40+ GenZ Slang Words For Daily Communication

Here, I have mentioned the most frequently used GenZ lingos that better you understand to communicate with GenZ properly.

If you’re a millennial or boomer, you may get stuck on some terms while talking with Gen Z. It seems like Gen Z has created its own dictionary.

I’m Gen Z, and no cap, sometimes even I need to Google some terms to understand them properly. So, you don’t have to feel FOMO.

I’m sure this article will mostly be read by Gen Zs trying to fit in. Am I right, Gen Zs?

Some of the Gen Z slang terms include WYD (What Are You Doing), FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), No Cap (Not Lying), Delulu (Delusional), Vibe Check, Hustle, Slay, and many more.

1. WYD

WYD stand for "What are (you) Doing?"

It can be used to ask what they are doing.

It can also be used to counter someone opinions.

For example: WYD Bruh, this is not what I have told.

2. WYF

It is simply used instead and as a short form of "where are you from?".

3. IDK

IDK is most commonly used term. It stands for "I Don't Know".

4. DK

It is even shorter form of IDK. Means "Don't Know".

5. IK

IK is the just opposite of IDK/DK. IK means "I Know".

6. IYKYK

It stands for "If You Know You Know".

It is commonly used for joke that are niche specific, means only and specific group of people can understand.

Some of the GenZ Sland terms include WYD (What are you doing), FOMO (Fear of Missing Out), No Cap (Not Lying), Delulu (Delusional), Vibe Check, Hustle, Slay, and many more.

Example: "I applied for sweeper job at JP Morgan. IYKYK.

You may have known about the recent news that JP Morgan CEO (who is female) used to date the new joinee.

So here, applied for sweeper means I am ready to be sweeper but want to be new joinee there.

In such scenario the therm IYKYK is used.

7. WTF

This is another most popular and known words. WTF Stands For "What the F*ck".

8. WTH

It is just the better and cleaner version of WTF.

WTH stands for "What the Heck" or "What the Hell".

9. IDC

IDC terms is used for "I Don't Care".

10. DC

DC is the shorter version of IDC means "Don't Care".

11. F

For you, this may be a normal English letter but not for GenZs.

F is generally used to express exhausting or disappointment. It is used instead of word "F*ck".

12. WYT

WYT stands for "What You Think".

13. NW

NW may sounds like North-West. But not in GenZ dictionary.

In GenZ chats, NW means "No Worries".

14. IRL

IRL means "In Real Life".

Like: Speed do the IRL Stream.

This means speed is doing real life stream.

15. My G

It is used to symbolize the close friends or homies.

Example: He is My G.

This means he is my close friend.

16. No Cap

No cap means "No Lying".

Example: I am speaking truth, there is no cap in my voice.

No Cap, yesterday he was with another girl.

17. Delulu

It is used as short form of "Delusional".

18. Solulu

It is the short form for "Solution".

Generally, Delulu and Solulu is used together.

For Example: Delulu is my only solulu.

This means being delusional is only mine solution.

19. MF

It is the short form of abusive word "Mother F*ck*r".

20. For Real (FR)

For real is used to showcase genuine.

It is generally used when you agree with someone opinion then you say "For Real Bruh, For Real".

21. WYHT

It is the abbreviation of "When You Have Time".

Example: Call me WYHT.

Sometimes WYGT is also used instead of WYHT. WYGT means "When You Get Free".

22. TL;DR

It stands for "Too Long; Didn't Read".

Generally used to give brief summary about any lengthy info or article.

TL;DR: This article is all about GenZ Lingo.

23. POV

POV means "Point of View".

My POV is that this article will be read more by GenZ than millinials or boomers.

24. TBH

It is used for "To Be Honest".

25. NGL

It is the short form of "Not Gonna Lie".

26. ICL

ICl stands for "I can't Lie".

Example: TBH, ICL to her.

27. TS

It is used when you are in hurry or wants to end the conversation.

TS stands for "Talk Soon".

28. LMFAO

LMFAO stands for "Laughing My F*cking Ass Off".

It is generally used for very funny meme or jokes.

29. LMFO

This is the less common slang terms. It is used instead of "Let me Find Out".

30. TBC

It is used for "To Be Confirmed".

Sometimes TBS is also used instead of TBC which means To Be Sure.

31. W

This is nothing crazy, many of you must know. It is used for "Win".

32. L

Again this is the opposite of W. It is used for "Loss".

Yesterday, I achieve big W against Red Team, but today L with them.

33. Vibe Check

It means energy check.

You may have seen the reels with caption "Vibe Check with My Teacher" or similar and then both start dancing. This means energy check, like ho can dance more and better.

34. GOAT

GOAT is a normal word used of "Greatest of All Time".

Example: Messi is GOAT.

Well, that's only for example, in real we all know Criastiano Ronaldo is GOAT.

35. Aura

Aura means having same vibe or cool factor.

Example: Bruh, have really got aura.

This means he is too cool.

36. Aura Farming

It is very much similar to above term 'aura'.

Aura farming means looking cool or gaining attention without too much effort.

37. Aesthetic

This is similar to aura but it is used for object or things.

Like this is used to describe any cool or beautiful dress.

Example: This pair of dress really looks aesthetic.

38. Cringe

Cringe means worst, or feeling uncomfortable or embarrassed.

Example:

Stop, this is cringe bruh.

It means stop this behavior, this making me feel uncomfortable or embarrassed.

39. Flex

This is just the opposite of the term 'cringe'.

It is used when you are proud for something.

Example:

Bruh, is flexing his money.

40. Slay

This is similar to term 'aura', but mainly used for girl.

Example: "You really slayed it girl"

Means you did this so perfectly or with pure confidence.

41. Hustle

Hustle means doing hard work, like going through some hard phase or similar thing.

Here I remember the Hindi phrase "Aaj Hustle Karenge Tabhi to Kal Bhasad Karenge'.

This means, we need to grind or work hard today so we can enjoy our success tomorrow.

42. Noob

It is used to denote newbie or inexperience person.

This is generally used in game to denote new or bad player.

43. FOMO

FOMO stands for "Fear of Missing Out".

I am getting FOMO seeing all your success bruh.

44. On the Same Page

Its like we both are similar. Like our aim, or working industry is same.

Example: "What? You are doing Engineering?, me too, we are on the same page".

TL;DR

In final, I want to tell you that if you want to match the vibe with Gen Z, then try to understand the term using other parts of the sentence. Like what you would use here, and you will find the meaning.

And if you still feel it’s hard to find, you can simply ask us (Gen Z) to explain. We Gen Zs are very cool; we will explain it. We don’t judge people just because they don’t know our terms.
