Introduction:

After years of school learning I have found out that school learning is completely wrong, but before you know why you need to know first what is Skill Acquisition. That's why I decided to divide this story into 4 parts.

What is Skill Acquisition:

Skill Acquisition is a process of breaking down the skill you are trying to acquire into the smallest part. Skill acquisition can turn into rapid skill acquisition if done correctly and done rapidly, and by rapidly I don't mean like the scene in the Matrix when Keanu Reeves blink a few times and say "I KNOW KUNG FU." What I mean is learning a skill way faster than it will usually acquire you.

Skill Acquisition VS Learning:

Like most people, in school we learn a foreign language. However after school you will only remember a couple of phrases. That's why Dr. Stephen Krashen from the university of southern California said that one of his primary insights is that language acquisition is different than language learning. For example in your second-language in school you learn vocabulary words , verb conjugation, grammar rules, and much more. Then you would study just to pass the exam. Think of it as if the language is a circle think about your school curriculum in this circle it will not get bigger or smaller. Now think of acquiring the language in this circle. There is infinite possibilities. When you learn your forced but when you're acquiring you are doing it cause you want to you can improve yourself as much as you want.

Learning:

school teaches you a concept of getting a job which is also something that I don't really like. I would like if they would teach you more about investing, having your own business. Either way after graduating we only remember only 37 percent of the things we learned. However that doesn't mean that you should not learn, or that you shouldn't go yo school or let your kids not to go to school. Because school also have its own benefits. Learning can also give you important skills, such a self-edit, or self- correct. Also learning at school can give you one of the best skills ever socializing. Learning also keeps your mind engaged and body active. It helps you get new and knowledge-based perspectives on the world around you. It helps you gain new experiences, trains your brain to handle a wide range of challenges, and keeps your neural pathways active. All these factors combine to keep you healthy. Dr. Krashen has once also said that learning helps you plan, edit and correct yourself as you are learning.

Solution:

I personally think that schools should should care more about skill acquisition. Which can be done in many ways such as giving us choices of a second-language to choose. After we are done with the lesson there should be at least 5 minutes to sit with our friends and talk with them in this language. I also believe that schools should focus on helping us based on the things we are best at and try to improve the things we are not the best at. One of the most important things is learning how to invest, trade, or at least the concept of opening a business.

Conclusion:

To sum it up I wanna say that most the information I got was from the book "The First 20 Hours, How to learn anything fast" by Josh Kaufman. I really recommend reading this book it taught me a lot of things such as Yoga, programming, Toch Typing, GO, Ukulele, Windsurfing, and much more.
