We Have A Dream

We have a dream to create. To create a better and brighter future for all that walk these shores.

Trudging, tredgin', these shores we have smoked our way into oblivion- first by emptying the shores smoking our way out of salmon, and then ' tredgin' our way out of the tragedies we've caused, indulging in all things nice- wine, buckfast, smoked salmon and more. Bhang- you name it our town has it!

You see this is the town i come from. A small seaside village turned town on the very western coast of Europe. Known for it's hippie tourist vibe and summer American tour groups, it's what we call "the graveyard of all ambition". This is the towns nickname, no joke. And this is how we end up being raised on weed, buckfast by an eccentric group of artists, alcoholics and local Irish all looking for the good life, in doing little but working a few hours the summer months.

Now that's not to say the country folk, aren't there supporting the land, but if you ever visited the city, town you wouldn't be sure what, place or space you've landed in.

With this place comes great beauty and deep sadness. Depression that rages, killing teenage boys as they drink themselves into the closest ditch or river, young women who slice and cut their skin, unlikely to ever be thin, good enough or tall enough for the men who warp their skin. There is a not knowing of self in this town. We don't know if we are Irish, foreign, hippies or normal. We are not the country folk from the counties around but we are also not from a big city, foreign and beautiful enough to blend in places elsewhere not here.

There is a dis-ease covered over by great ease of being, hanging out and being 'on the sesh', 'sparch' or prom you chose.

And My Dream is to Change This.

My dream is to create space, to create place for people to gather and to heal. My dream is to create a community space where people can come together, 'off the sesh', sober and in all their human being, just being.

My vision is to create a centre of being where other activities besides-drinking, consuming alcohol and mad raging parties; can take place. I wish to see this town flourish with all it's heart, with all my heart and with all it's creativity, waiting to be unleashed. I mean there must be over 5,000 'dead' artists here down the pub each night, whiling away their time, the years till real death arrives. Imagine, if they were given the space to feel. Told that it is ok to feel, not just by their artist counterparts, but the very fabric of society itself.

I think covid has brought this, it has brought this opportunity- where to feel, to take time and space to feel has or is quick becoming the new norm.

To speed this process along, I hope to create a 'centre of hope', a centre of inspiration, the 'Heart Centre of Galway' down by the bay. Where people can participate in a range of activities from physical, to mental to emotional wellbeing classes, initiations and therapies.

Building a fire and the very centre from which we can grieve, dance, sing, share the night way; to a barn for live dance and music sessions, morning glories and evening parties; to a yoga studio (already done) for movement and bodily creations & attainment; to a yurt for emotional release, deep therapy work, individual shadow ( and light) work; to a vegetable garden for connection- and trees, how could i forget the trees that help us breathe.

I envision this space as a place for all to gather, regardless of race, creed, caste, belief or vaccinated or unvaccinated. I envision it as a place for friends to gather, for market stall holders, artists to create and sell, share their products. A meeting space for love, for being, for humane-ness.

I wish to create this space in the next year. Have my eye on the land, the helpers, the angels involved, already existing and now the doing. The doing is soon to happen.

And I hope to write in two years time that this place is a success, that you can google it on googlemaps and zoom in and see what we have created.

A home, a space for all those who feel disjointed, addicted and depressed living in this land. I long for their connection, i long for my own connection to this land, place and space. And give my body and soul to creating it.
