The solar system is falling towards the black hole at the center of the galaxy

A new phase in the perception of the Earth and the Sun

The Sun has accompanied the evolution and development of mankind since the dawn of time.

In the limited history of cognition, there are various statements about the Sun and the Earth, among which the geocentric theory dominates again. It was not until Copernicus proposed the heliocentric theory in the early sixteenth century that a new phase of knowledge about the Earth and the Sun was initiated.

At the beginning of this phase, the concepts of stars, planets, and solar systems gradually emerged, and people gradually realized that we are too small, both from the human perspective and from the perspective of the Earth; but if we put the solar system into the Milky Way, we will find that the solar system is also a small existence.

The Solar System and the Milky Way

There are various theories about the origin of the solar system, such as the "cataclysmic theory" and the "capture theory", but the more accepted one is the nebula hypothesis proposed by Kant in the mid-18th century.

In Kant's view, the Sun was formed 4.6 billion years ago by the collapse of a giant molecular cloud. With the development of modern astronomy, this Kantian theory was also developed, giving rise to the modern nebula theory.

Today scientists generally agree that before the solar system was formed, it was a molecular cloud disintegrated by an interstellar cloud. Then, under the influence of the molecular cloud's gravity, the Sun was formed in its central part, and the outer part was the nebular disk from which the planets eventually formed.

The planets revolve around the stars, hence the seasons on Earth. The molecular cloud, on the other hand, was rotating from the beginning, so this characteristic remained unchanged even after the formation of the solar system. In the universe, which is not visible to humans, the solar system is also moving periodically around the silver center of the Milky Way.

It is just that the solar system takes much more time to rotate than the more than 300 days needed for the Earth's rotation.

According to the scientists' findings, the distance between the solar system and the silver center is about 240-270 million light years, while the sun moves around the galactic center at a speed of 220 kilometers per second. The time required for the Sun to go around the silver center is 250 million years. Based on the changes in the Earth's rotation, the Sun changes periodically every 250 million years in the universe.

However, the news that the solar system is falling toward the black hole at the center of the galaxy is more shocking than the news that the sun is also revolving around the silver center.

The mysterious and inexplicable black hole

The advent of modern general relativity has provided us with a new kind of celestial body: the black hole.

In the past, a black hole was a hole with no light and thus appeared dark. But when it appears in the form of a celestial body, it is given a mysterious color. But the same thing is true for black holes, which cannot be directly observed.

According to Einstein's general theory of relativity, black holes are created by stars. As a massive star approaches its death, it produces less and less energy at its center. The tiny amount of energy causes the star to be unable to carry the weight of its outer shell, in which case the heavier shell begins to squeeze inward, and its black core thus begins to collapse.

In this process, the star becomes smaller and smaller, but its density increases until, after a certain point of collapse, a strange interface is created around it under the influence of its mass. Once any matter enters this interface, there is no escape, even for light.

Therefore, a black hole is considered "an object whose curvature of space-time is so large that light cannot escape from its event horizon", and it is for this reason that the gravitational force is the most important characteristic of a black hole.

Not only can it swallow nearby objects, but it can even make other stars gradually move closer to it because of its gravitational force.

Scientists have deduced that most galaxies in the universe have a supermassive black hole at their center. These black holes, by their very nature, grow by swallowing the surrounding matter.

And such a supermassive black hole exists at the center of the Milky Way galaxy. Therefore, scientists speculate that the Sun, which is moving around the silver center, will also move closer to the silver center during its rotation because of the presence of the silver center black hole.

Solar System and Silver-Centered Black Holes

After numerous tests and calculations by scientists, this conclusion was finally confirmed. Scientists found that for every week that the Sun orbits the Silver Center, the distance between it and the Silver Center decreases by 2000 light years. From the distance between the Sun and the Silver Center, it can be deduced that as long as the Sun revolves around the Silver Center for another 130,000 revolutions, the Sun will be swallowed by the huge gravitational force of the Silver Star black hole.

It is known that it takes 250 million years for the Sun to orbit the Milky Way, so it can be calculated that the exact time of the Sun's fall is about 32 trillion years.

However, this is only based on the rotation speed of the star today. If the sun rotates faster and faster after that, the time for the sun to be swallowed by the black hole will be shorter as a result.

The end of the Sun

However, 32 trillion years is too long, not to mention humans and the Earth, and according to scientists, the Sun itself will not be able to support itself until that moment.

Stars age and die, and the sun cannot escape the shackles of this fate. Today's sun is 4.57 billion years old, and as a yellow dwarf, its life span is around 10 billion years, which means that although the sun is in its prime, it only has 5 billion years left.

This is much shorter compared to the final time it will fall into the black hole. Therefore, the sun will meet its end of decay on its way to falling into a black hole.

As mentioned in the previous section, black holes are formed by internal collapse due to stellar aging. But stellar aging is not the only end of a black hole.

The aging of a star is indicated by the fact that the hydrogen inside is becoming less and less available as fuel. In time, the sun becomes hotter and hotter to be able to save its fuel. An overheated star causes the hydrogen to fuse faster and faster, eventually causing the sun to expand and become a red giant. But after the burning, the Sun gradually calms down and becomes a white dwarf. Then, in a few billion years, the white dwarf will evolve into a black dwarf again.

Although the solar system is moving closer to its silver center, 32 trillion years is too long for humans or the Earth to worry about. After all, the Earth, which depends on the Sun for its existence, will be lifeless when the Sun becomes a red giant. And naturally, the Earth will not be able to participate in the Sun's next fate.
