The most unbelievable creature on Earth! Able to withstand super impacts and survive in space

How powerful is the water bear bug?

There are many incredible creatures on Earth, such as the water bear worm, a slow-moving animal known as the "little beauty", which is an unbelievable creature that, despite its small size, has the ability to adapt to its environment and resist stress. They may be tiny, but their ability to adapt to their environment and resist stress can be described as "uncanny".

According to reports, some time ago, scientists for the water bear worm conducted another experiment, the results found that they can survive the high-speed impact of 825 meters per second, you know, if it is replaced by other animals, would have been turned into a puddle of mud.

What is a water bear worm?

Water bears are a worldwide animal, or you could argue that they are everywhere, and some of you might say, why can't we see them? Because they are simply too small. According to information, water bears are generally between 50 microns and 1.4 millimetres in size, so obviously, they cannot be seen by the human eye, and if you want to see them clearly, you need to use professional equipment to do so.

Although it has the word "insect" in its name, it is not an insect, but an ancient species of animal on Earth - a bradyzoan, one of the first multicellular animals on the planet. Today, scientists have found more than 400 species of bradyzoans on Earth, all of which are characteristically small and invisible to the naked eye, the most iconic of which is the water bear worm.

So, how did scientists discover the water bear worm? According to records, the earliest known record of the water bear worm was in the late 18th century, when researchers concluded that it was a creature so resilient that it could miraculously 'come back to life' after death.

As the 19th century progressed, researchers learned more and more about the water bear worm, and of course, behind the scenes, scientists carried out many brutal experiments to prove how strong the worm was, and the worm set new limits to what scientists thought it could do.

How powerful is the water bear worm?

One of the most impressive features of the water bear worm is its 'cryptobiotic' function. What is 'cryptobiology'? Simply put, in extreme conditions, water bears can 'stop' all their vital signs to make it appear as if they are dead and shed 97% of their water content, thus turning them into dry corpses.

To put it more graphically, I believe that many of you have read Liu Cixin's "Three Bodies", in which the Three Bodies are an alien civilisation with a "cryptozoological" function, so to speak, and the water bears are such a being. When the environment becomes suitable again, the water bears will "soak" themselves to reawaken.

This "cryptobiotic" function is not measured in months, but in years. Researchers have found that water bears can reawaken in cryptobiotic conditions even after decades have passed, and they have even more to offer.

Extreme heat, cold temperatures, horrific space radiation and more are just some of the unimaginable tortures scientists have used to "kill" water bears over the past 200 years, but they have not let them get away with it.

As a result, some researchers also believe that water bears might be able to survive on a planet in a complete vacuum, even if there is nothing there, and when all is said and done, scientists have previously demonstrated through space experiments that water bears are still alive after surviving in space for almost a month and returning to Earth, and they have actually bred offspring in space.

Meanwhile, in 2019, the Israeli lunar probe crashed on the surface of the moon due to a malfunction, also leaving many of the water bear worms that were planned to be taken to the moon for experiments, all on top of the moon, and many researchers believe that these water bear worms, which came from Earth, could be the first life on the moon.

In this experiment, to see if the water bears would die, the scientists first put them in a completely cryogenic state and then put them in a steel cylinder, which was then fired by a cannonball.

It was amazing to see how they were thawed out of the cylinders after the heat shock, and how they gradually came back to life.

If another massive asteroid impact occurs on Earth in the future, the water bears may be among the survivors of the next biological extinction, after all, they are far more resilient than humans can imagine. So, if water bears are put on other planets in the future, will they be genetically mutated and become space monsters? What do you think about this?
