As heavy smoke and dangerous air quality covers the east coast, I think it's time to revisit the topic of climate change. For years people have been warning not just the United States Government but the whole world about the increasing dangers of our climate crisis only to be shot down at every opportunity.

This isn’t the first time wildfires or natural disasters have affected us on more of a global scale but it is the very beginning of the end in relation to climate change. Wildfires have been increasing in not just volume and intensity but in quantity during recent years and it's only a sample of what's to come if we don't begin to take action now.

I’ve heard a lot of people speak on this subject and say that the current wildfires have nothing to do with climate change and I’m here to explain why that statement is not only false but spreads misinformation. Our Climate Crisis affects just about everything in our lives and the increased output of chemicals into our air along with fossil fuels already creates an unhealthy level of toxins to be breathing in but also adds to the amount of pollutants in the air that trees and foliage have to filter through.

Our forests and our foliage can only do so much to filter the toxins and pollutants that we continuously and without pause pour into our breathing air. When you have such an imbalance in our environment, our air and our ecosystem; it only leads to negative effects such as dry air, slowed growth and eventually the death of plants on the planet. We’ve created an atmosphere that our plants and especially our animals cannot survive with; Essentially we’ve bitten off more than we can chew as our governments pretend they can control this issue while still fueling capitalism.

In essence our natural filtration system has begun to fail as we’ve put more pollutants into the air than it can handle. That amount of toxic air has left our forest brittle and about as flammable as a dry leaf in a bonfire. Without immediate action, We’ll be in for much worse than smoke making it hard to breathe. We’ll be looking at more of a water shortage than we’ve ever seen before, the drying up and eventual evaporation of lakes, ponds and rivers; Not to mention the effect it will have when it comes to farming plants and subsequently our livestock supply.

When I say that it will touch every aspect of your life, I’m not being dramatic; I’m telling you the truth. Our planet is in imminent danger and if you like your life the way it is, If you enjoy eating bacon for breakfast, A side salad when you go out to eat or even a nice bottle of filtered water, You’ll heed this warning and start doing research on your own for how you can improve our current situation.

People often say they don’t want the government controlling their lives and how they live but pretty soon we won't have a choice when we’re forced to ration and restrict things we’re used to consuming or using daily. Not only is our way of life in danger but if we’re being frank; Our lives are in danger.

It's more than just the future of our planet, It's your future, it's your children and grandchildren’s futures that are at risk with every blind eye we turn. Every time we shrug and throw a plastic bottle in the garbage, Every time we insist a β€˜small thing’ won't make a difference; We enable and enforce a toxic and dangerous situation.

We are all living on borrowed time, We’ve all bitten off more than we can chew and I think it's time we be honest and admit we’re all on the same boat. This isn’t about each country individually, this isn't about politics; This is about all of us being on one planet that's currently in danger. Our climate crisis should be a wake up call to all of you and if you don’t think its a serious as I’ve made it seem; Perhaps you should look at the red sun shining above the east coast or the plumes of smoke around our statue of liberty.

Back in 2019, the wildfire in the Amazon forest turned day into night here in Sao Paulo, over 1.8 thousand miles away. As scary as it was, it's worse to be see something of that magnitude happening again so soon. Our planet is dying and we need to combine efforts os we want to save it. It's not enough to focus on doing just our share anymore, we need the world leaders to take action on a global scale too.
