Is there an end to science? Where does science end?

28/5000 Is it true that "philosophy is at the end of science and theology at the end of philosophy"?

We need to define all three before we can discuss them. What is science? Human beings have both rational and perceptual aspects. I believe that science is the most rational way for human beings to explore truth. We assume a theory through observation, analysis, thinking and calculation, and then rigorously verify or falsify it through practice, so as to gradually establish the foundation of science.

Philosophy lies between rationality and sensibility. It studies the laws of the changes of all things in the world through rigorous logic. In many cases, the research objects of philosophy are abstract and difficult to be verified by practice. Theology, on the other hand, is completely biased towards sensibility. Theology is based on religious belief, and its research object is basically divorced from theory and practice.

Why do science, philosophy and theology exist? I think it all depends on human cognitive ability, we can understand this simple, is a reflection of human cognitive ability is the most basic science, science can study almost all the theory and practice can be used in to confirm or disprove the object, philosophy is an extension of the human cognitive ability, the research object of philosophy is abstract, but it is logical, Theology, on the other hand, deals with things beyond human cognition.

We can take an example to illustrate the relationship between the three. This is a question that all of us think about more or less, that is, "What is the meaning of life?" This is a scientifically difficult question to answer satisfactorily, but philosophy is relatively easy. Philosophy can explain the meaning of being alive through various philosophies of life. Theology is the simplest question, because "everything is arranged by God." "How did life begin, and how did it evolve into you and me?" It is a question that science has yet to answer perfectly, but one can easily find the answer in theology.

From the above analysis, we can understand why there is such a saying that "philosophy is at the end of science and theology is at the end of philosophy". As mentioned above, although the history of human beings is millions of years long, the scientific development of human beings is only a few hundred years old, and human cognition is far from adequate to explain everything in the world. When people encounter things beyond their rationality and cognitive ability, they will more or less seek answers in theology, and when human science improves to a certain level, people will be inclined to science. Copernicus' heliocentric theory is a typical example of this.

Science and theology stand at the two ends of reason and sensibility, and philosophy lies between them. Due to completely different ways of inquiry, the cognitive capacity of science is always limited, and when beyond this scope, theology takes the upper hand. Is theology really above science? I don't think so, because science has no end, and the so-called end is just a bottleneck that cannot be broken temporarily. In the long run, scientific exploration will continue, and its direction obviously has nothing to do with theology.

So why do so many famous scientists turn to theology? I think the reason is that human life is very short, and the exploration of science is endless, people have weak, helpless side. "Fear comes from the unknown". When a person falls into a bottleneck that is difficult to break through on the road of scientific exploration, he or she will have a strong fear of the unknown and incomprehensible things and doubt his or her own ability. At this time, he or she is likely to seek a simpler solution from theology. At this point, he no longer sought scientific truth, but psychological comfort
