Why do politicians use such words as "fight" and "battle" when it comes to overturning the ravages of the decades of neglect of the earth's biosphere? Are they speaking without thinking as many politicians seem to do or do they really think they are fighting and battling? The words fighting and battling are nonsense phrases in the context of the climate. In other words, bullshit. Mean nothing talk. Empty rhetoric.

I would love to hear a politician use a sentence such as; My government is initiating positive action that I personally will guarantee will hold the emission of carbon gases at their current level for our country. Concurrently, I will pass legislation that will reduce carbon emissions by 25% per decade for the next 50 years.

No garbage words. No bullshit. No weasel words. No fake promises. Just a factual statement outlining a positive plan. That is a statement that I, as a citizen and a voter can pay attention to.

We need to start using phrases such as "reducing", "minimizing", "conserving", "capping", "holding", and "eliminating." Get rid of all this fighting and battling terminology. They are mean-nothing, fake words. These words seem to indicate an enemy. But, there is no enemy.

The enemy is us!

We need leaders who are prepared to cut through the bullshit and to lay it on the line for the sake of humanity and our future, not for weaselly political purposes and gains. Courage to act and to develop the impetus to create change. No obscurification. No weasel words. We need opposition parties to come to the table and work with elected governments to turn global warming around. The current system just does not work. I get sickened when I see and hear opposition parties opposing perfectly logical legislation just for the sake of opposing it. Therefore, pathetically trying to gain political points, just for their own selfish reasons.

We need to stamp out corruption and publicly shame and ridicule conspiracy theorists. Throw the powerful and corrupt who break environmental laws in jail. Corruption and greed are ingrained human traits in those who would despoil all that we hold dear for the need for power. We must root out all corrupt politicians, demagogues, and dictators, and corrupt business leaders who care so little about future generations. We must educate the world's masses who do not have access to scientific facts. We need to elect politicians with the courage and the brains to respect and promote science. Once we have achieved that, we begin the healing process of reversing the damage that has been inflicted on our biosphere by the greedy, the corrupt, and the stupid.

We must educate the religious who cling to the belief there is some great father figure in the sky who will save the believers and shelter them in some Garden of Eden forever.

The 20th century and the beginnings of the 21st century have been the age of trite. The time of the Kardashians and their ilk, insane profit takings from overheated stock markets, uber-wealthy buying superyachts, supercars, and tickets for a 5-minute ride to the edge of space, ridiculous companies such as Door-Dash and UBER with multi-billion dollar valuations and producing NOTHING, the cruise ship industry continuously fined millions of dollars for ocean pollution, unlimited use of jet planes flying people here there and everywhere, polluting the air we need to breathe and oh so much more.

When will the madness end? When the last tree is felled? When the last bird falls from the sky? When the last of the Arctic or Antarctic ice melts? OR - when the atmosphere becomes unbreathable?

We are not fighting or battling anything except our own stupidity. We, the people of this century are rabid consumers. We buy megatons of crap produced in countries where the workers are paid a pittance. We buy billions of dollars of one-use plastic goods. We use the ocean and rivers as garbage dumps. We applaud stupid and moronic people who star in stupid and moronic television shows. We worship people whose occupation is "influencer."

And our politicians still mouth platitudes of fighting and battling climate change without even knowing what they are saying.

And care only about staying in power.
