Is there extraterrestrial life in the universe? To answer this question, we first need to see if there is a planet like our Earth that can provide conditions for the existence and development of life. This is also because so far scientists have found life only on Earth. Although astronomers have used many huge astronomical telescopes to look at the universe and launched deep space probes to probe in detail for extraterrestrial planets, they still have not found any life forms beyond Earth.

So are there any planets in the universe like our Earth that could provide conditions for the existence and development of life? Since the advent of modern astronomy, astronomers have been using a variety of telescopes to discover such habitable planets. So far, dozens of planets with potentially habitable conditions have been discovered. In June, an astronomer using the infrared spectrometer of the Mispalu Large Telescope in Hawaii discovered a new "habitable planet" with a diameter of 8.2, which is thought to have the potential to support the existence and evolution of life.

The planet is located in the constellation Polaris, Ursa Major, just 37 light-years from our solar system, and is estimated to be at least four times the mass of Earth. It could be called a "super-Earth" and has been named Ross 508b.

The parent star of this super-Earth is Ross 508, which is only about 18% of the Sun's mass and 1% of its volume. It belongs to the largest number of red dwarfs in the universe, with a surface temperature of only 2800°C. Although this star is inferior to the Sun in all respects, Ross 508 b is located in the habitable zone of the host star at an average distance of only 8 million kilometers because of its proximity to the parent star.

It is only 37 light years away, and it is like a neighbor to our solar system. Although 1 light-years 9.46 trillion kilometers away, on the scale of the universe, if the Milky Way were a megacity, 37 light-years would be like living next door to each other.

However, the orbit of this "super-Earth" is not circular, but elliptical, which makes it spend part of its time outside the habitable zone while orbiting its host star. Is there life on this planet or not? Not quite sure, if it is located in a space with Earth-like conditions, then there is a high probability that life exists, not excluding the evolution of a higher civilization on this planet.
