Independence and Early Years (1960 - 1966) Nigeria gained independence from Britain on October 1, 1960, with a federal system designed to balance the interests of its diverse ethnic groups. The first few years of independence were marked by political optimism and economic growth. However, regional and ethnic tensions soon surfaced, exacerbated by competition for resources and political power. The discovery of oil in the Niger Delta added another layer of complexity, bringing wealth but also inequality and environmental issues. By 1966, these tensions led to a series of military coups, plunging Nigeria into a period of political instability that would last for decades.

Winnie the Pooh is also known as Edward Bear or as Christopher Robin sometimes called him Silly Old Bear.
