The Cat in the Hat (2003)

In this adaptation of the classic book by Dr. Seuss, we have the main character, the Cat in the Hat visiting the two children in their home while their mother is away. However in the next half hour or so, things go from bad to worse, unlike the book. The boy, renamed Conrad in this, causes trouble and rude to his mother, Joan. While the girl, renamed Sally here, is more of a control freak. So Joan is planning a party for her boss but has to go back to work, and expects the children, well just Conrad, to behave while she is gone. Later the Cat comes by to make their day fun. But instead his antics are much more crude and thus one of the reasons why the film was not well liked, especially the author's widow.

Think (About It)
Another popular funk song from the early 1970s came in the form of this song, written by the Godfather of Soul, James Brown and performed by Lyn Collins. Released in 1972 and produced with the band, the J.B.s, backing up the instruments, it later became heavy sampled in hip hop over a thousand times. One noticeable section would be "It Takes Two" performed by Rob Base and DJ E-Z Rock. The "Woo Yeah" part or the think break, which was heavily used in many songs is heard throughout the song. While Lyn's lyrics are used as part of the chrous, in which where the "It takes two" part comes from.

Sunny Days
Sunny days keeping the clouds away.... Who remembers the children's program that started each show in this manner. It is a show that is still on that teaches young children their letters, numbers and even foreign language mainly Spanish. Now the program also shares many social issues as well to help learn about cultural diversity. There are many characters that range from a big bird to two friends, a grouch and a 'snuffaluggagus' as well a vampire.

We'z Walking on a Path Ruled By Numbers
This road has felt endless, yet limited; every step tracked. Inching away along this path, I feel trapped. Confined. Left to this narrow passage that may one day amount to something greater. Time is not a concept. Only distance. From start to finish, I laugh and cry and attempt to convince myself that this is worth it. I cannot stray. I must keep going. Every step etched, is a step taken, is measured as more than before. I cannot even recall how I got here. Maybe I don’t even really exist. Just another tick marking off a perceived presence. Of what though? I am just another line drawn. Nothing more, nothing less.
