You’re Not Late

You’re Exactly Where You Need to Be

Do you feel like everyone else has already gotten somewhere, but you’re still spinning around in circles?

That others know what they’re doing, but you’re still sorting out your thoughts. That someone is “ahead” and you are “behind.”

And this feeling is so overwhelming that sometimes you don’t even notice it. It just tightens your chest when you open your email or when you sit down to write.

But the truth is, you’re not behind. You’re not late. You’re just doing something real. And real things don’t happen on schedule. They don’t come when you push them. And they don’t fall into place just because you want them to be ready.

That’s what growth and real work look like.

I don’t believe in overnight success. Nor do I believe in grandiose promises to build something big in a week.

You open your phone and see yet another article titled “How to make 10K in a month” or “100 paid subscribers in a week.” And without even meaning to, you start comparing yourself. Not because you’re jealous, but because you wonder if you’re doing something wrong.

Let me tell you something:

That’s not reality. That’s noise. Real things don’t happen that way.

The truth is that numbers mean nothing if there are no people behind them.

Language doesn’t come on command either.

You may know what you want to say, but the words aren’t ready yet. You may sense the direction, but you can’t put it into a sentence. You may have an idea, but you don’t know how to explain it in a way that sounds like you.

And that’s normal. In fact, it’s part of the process.

Things that matter come slowly because they are real and have value.

This is why so many people feel “behind”: because they are trying to talk about something that is not yet ready. They try to explain it before they understand it. They try to organize it before they feel it.

And the end result is confusion.

The end result is that you yourself doubt whether your words are any good at all. Let me tell you: they are good, you just haven’t figured out how to say them.

And when there is no direction and no clarity, there is no language either.

What you do and all the ideas and thoughts you constantly ponder. They are good. They are brilliant. But everything takes time.

And it’s not building an audience or becoming “popular” that takes time, but figuring out what your message is and how to convey it to people so they understand it.

It takes time to sit down with your thoughts and figure out what message you want to convey to people in a concise and clear manner. And then you have to keep repeating it.

So, you’re not behind. You’re just in the process. And the process is part of your voice. Part of figuring out what you really want to say. Part of finding the words your work deserves.

And if you’re at that point right now, searching, organizing, feeling a little confused, which is actually a sign that something is being born, you’re not alone. And you’re not late. You’re just on your way.

You don’t have to fight everything on your own.
