If it's been said once, it's been said a thousand times. Costumes are not consent. I was very lucky this year. Our directors were adamant about our team having rope stanchions for social distancing between us and our audience. We masked up if we were in the crowds. We were taught, reminded, and had mandatory sexual harassment training. Things were not perfect. I was not perfect. But I consider myself incredibly lucky that I was never physically made uncomfortable or assaulted by a patron this year.

An open letter to the ones who are scared of how they might be perceived. What if people think I am too weird or ecstatic to be around as a person? What if others think I am too much, too much passion, too many emotions, too strong, too opinionated, and not a cool person to hang out with? I wish I could say that I haven't said that, I am oblivious to feeling insecure, bothered or sabotaging my self-belief from time to time. But truth be told, it is only humane of me to be concerned about how I might be perceived in the minds of others. If you relate to this, I am writing this letter to you, my imperfect fellow being. In the most vulnerable and painstaking way, we all are not immune to the negativity and limiting beliefs of ourselves and others.

Family Matters
Entering adulthood has been a relatively smooth experience for me, largely because I have focused on learning from those who came before me to avoid making the same mistakes. However, it turned out to be much more difficult than I initially expected, primarily because I was resistant to the conclusions of the lessons passed on by others.
