Link Bombers : Why The Fuss

Shhhhhhh I’ll let you in on my little secret

When we share our writing on Facebook we will inevitably be introduced to the people that believe it is okay to ‘link bomb’ our posts. It happens to all of us.

Those few writers, who believe it’s okay to selfishly drop their link, without even opening your writing. Their attempt at trickery, to get the reads without having to put in the work.

I see a lot of anger and upset due to these selfish writers — even to the point that the writers that are ‘team players’, feel they have to leave the groups.

I say to these writers, “please do not let these selfish people chase you away.”

In fact I’ll go as far as letting you in on my secret — on how I use these selfish individuals’ ‘link bombs’ to my advantage.

Ssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhh : here is my secret ………please don’t spread it around 🤩

**********************************************************************

Every time someone comments on your post, your post gets moved to the top of the group, so there is the opportunity to have more ‘team players’ see your work.

So with that in mind, I appreciate the ‘link bombers’ for their assistance in getting my post seen by more group members.

I then use them to better my advantage, by commenting on their link. This in turn puts my post back up to the top of the group once more.

I always comment the exact same comment, so I do not make the mistake of opening their link and thereby giving them a free read. That comment will always be “thank you for sharing.

Please take note of this because I would appreciate if you didn’t engage with MY ’link bombers’ and give then a free read. This is what they are hoping for!

If there is more than one ‘link bomber’ on my post, I hide all, bar one and it is this one I comment on — then up to the top of the page my post goes.

The hidden ‘link bombers’ are there for me to use if I need more coverage on my post at a later date.

I will unhide one and comment, “thank you for sharing “ and up to the top of the group my post goes, once more.

Of course I hide any ‘link bombers’ posts I have already commented on so I only have one ‘link bomber’ on show at any given time.

So I am thankful to those selfish individuals that try to beat the system and you could be thankful to them too.

I have my own list of the people that consistently ‘link bomb’ my articles, as I find it is typically the same offenders time and time again. Instead of getting angry or leaving the group, I happily use them to my advantage and you can too. Give it a go, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Am I concerned that I am giving away my secret to the very selfish people that help me get my work seen? No I am not overly concerned………..why?

Because at least I know they’ll never discover my secret …………... because they do not ever read my articles!

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
