If you have a crush and wonder if the person that you are interested in feels the same way, your best line of defense is to pay attention. Sometimes, the idea of approaching a person that you are crushing on can be nerve-wracking. What if he or she doesn’t feel the same way? What if you are misreading the signs? How do you know when it is the right moment? Well, if your secret boo is doing any of these things, then it might be time to talk to him or her.

1. If a person is interested in you, he or she might listen to your conversation like you are the only one in the room.

When you and your crush go out with a group of friends, does he or she focus more on you than anyone else around? If so, he or she might be interested in you. A person that likes another person will feel more engaged in conversation with a person that he or she is interested in, and this is a good sign that it is time to tell him or her how you really feel.

2. Does your crush drop other social engagements to make plans with you?

If you constantly find your crush asking you out so he or she can spend time with you instead of his or her friends, then it is a good sign that he or she has feelings for you. People usually like to get to know each other on an individual level before he or she goes headfirst into a relationship, so if you find that you are sharing more personal time with him or her all of a sudden, you may want to bring up the dating conversation.

3. Has your crush avoided saying that you are like “a sibling” to him or her?

If you have never heard your crush call you a sister or brother to him or her, it is a good sign that he or she has feelings stronger than friendship for you. You don’t want to misinterpret a good friendship for feelings, so avoiding the sibling card is a big deal.

4. Has your crush began to take an interest in the things that you like doing?

If you find out that your crush has picked up a new hobby that he or she didn’t have before and it just so happens to be one of your hobbies, he or she might have feelings for you. People like to find activities that they can do with the ones that they love, and a new hobby that a person didn’t have before that just so happens to be something that you like to do, may be a signal that he or she is looking for a deeper commitment.

5. Is your crush the person that is present when you are going through a rough time?

If you have noticed that the person that you are crushing on always seems to be there when you need support, then it might be a good indication that he or she wants to connect with you on a deeper level. People tend to get closer to those that they have feelings for, and if a person is thinking about getting into a relationship, he or she might want to show you that he or she can be supportive.

Telling the person that you have a crush on how you feel isn’t easy, and it can be difficult to figure out how to do it. However, if you notice that your crush is showing any of the signs above, you might want to start making room in your calendar for an intimate talk.
