As you might imagine a customer service position would not be a very stressful job. This would be especially true if the position was completely online, with no phone communication involvement. This is my job. This is my life. My main source of “bread-and-butter” comes from working in a cubicle and answering emails all day long. No stress or drama, right? Wrong!
There is always workplace drama going on. Even if it is not in my department it will slowly trickle in through the doorway. You see, the building that I work in is very large and houses multiple different customers. It is a shipping and receiving type of company; so we handle everything from receiving the initial product, building the order, shipping it out the door, and all of the communication with the customer. That is what my job entails; communication.
All in all, I am a fantastic communicator. I seem to generate the appropriate answers right on cue. Where the drama comes from; is my fellow employees. It is as if they have absolutely no idea how to appropriately communicate with another human being. I can only imagine how their home life is, but Lord knows I don’t want to find out firsthand! We use walkie-talkies as a form of communication throughout the entire warehouse. And to just hear how some of them speak through them is repulsive. As if they cannot even formulate a sentence, even when speaking on a radio.
I hate to be so critical because I know that I am far from perfect myself. However, there are certain things that I have to draw the line on. When you begin dating someone in one department only to then begin dating someone in another department; thinking the two will never meet! That is ridiculous. And this is a story I have been following for over a year. Quite comically as a matter of fact.
There is a man at our company that I will call Marcus. Marcus is a huge flirt and has tried to lure me, who is married, as well as another woman who is no longer there; into a fling of sorts. He found out very quickly that he was getting absolutely nowhere with me or her; so he moved on to another woman. We will call her Angelica. Angelica fell for all of his game. As lame as it is, she fell for it. Hook, line, and sinker! Everyone was shocked when they found out that they were not only dating, but he moved into her house!
I didn’t really care because I didn’t want him. So, I didn’t care who got him. But what I did care about was the fact that shortly after he moved in with her, he began dating another woman in another department in our company. I am certain that Angelica is not aware. However, I don’t feel like it is my place to tell her either. I am just watching the drama unfold. When Marcus is not at work neither is his girlfriend, but Angelica is there. And when Angelica is not at work, not surprising, that Marcus is not there either. He is most definitely playing both of them.
There is a hubbub going around the office all the time. I am just guessing that this will all blow up at some point or another. However, I don’t know who is in trouble really. Or if anyone would be. I am assuming that as long as it does not hurt business then the business is not going to care. All I know is that Angelica needs to figure out who is sleeping in the bed with Marcus before all hell breaks loose! Because she has a spitfire Puerto Rican temper and I can only imagine what that’s going to be like!
Until next time!
