I went behind my (ex)boyfriend’s back and got a sugar daddy. He knows I am a stripper, I had never had a SD before but this was just an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. I told myself it wasn’t anything serious, that it was just the nice things he could give me things I couldn’t afford on my own and that it didn’t mean anything emotionally. I kept telling myself I wasn’t doing anything wrong, that we weren’t married, that I was still free to live my life, but deep down I knew I was keeping a secret. And secrets always find a way of weighing on you.
He took me on shopping sprees to anywhere I wanted. Nice clothes, perfumes, shoes, bags things I’d only ever dreamed of owning. And one day, he took me to the jewellery store and bought me a Rolex. It was the most beautiful, expensive thing I’d ever held in my hands. I felt so lucky, so special, and yet… every time I looked at it on my wrist, a little part of me felt heavy. I was wearing something given to me by another man, while the one I loved had no idea it even existed. It went on for about two months with this guy, and I want to be clear I never had sex with him. It was never physical like that. He enjoyed spoiling me, and I enjoyed being taken care of. That was all it was supposed to be.
But the guilt caught up to me. It ate away at me every single day. I couldn’t look my boyfriend in the eyes without feeling like I was lying to him, like I was betraying the trust he’d given me. So eventually, I confessed. I told him everything. About the sugar daddy, about the shopping trips, about the watch. I handed him the truth, fully expecting him to walk away right then and there. He was very hurt and upset and looking back, I know it was completely justified. He had every right to be angry, every right to feel betrayed. But after all the tears and the shouting, he said he still wanted to stay with me. He said he loved me, and that he could forgive me as long as I cut off contact with the sugar daddy completely.
So I did. I ended it. I told him I couldn’t see him anymore, returned whatever I could, and kept only the watch because it felt like the one thing I couldn’t bear to part with, even though it was a constant reminder of my mistake. For a while, things were actually okay. A month passed. We were trying to rebuild. He did bring it up here and there sometimes in arguments, sometimes in quiet moments and it hurt every time, but I understood. Trust takes time to fix. I accepted that I had broken it, and I was willing to be patient while he healed.
Then one night, I went to put my Rolex on and it was gone.
I tore apart my whole apartment. Every drawer, every box, every shelf. I emptied my jewellery case, lifted everything off the vanity, checked under the bed and inside every bag I owned. It was nowhere. It had simply vanished. I called him crying, my heart racing, and asked him straight up if he had taken it.
He said he didn’t. But I’m almost certain he did. He was the only person who had been inside my apartment that entire week. No one else had the key. No one else knew where I kept it. I can’t help but feel like he took it out of spite to teach me a lesson, to make me pay for what I did, to take away the gift another man had given me. And honestly? A part of me understands why he would do it. I hurt him first. But another part of me is shattered because instead of talking to me, instead of working through it, he chose to take something that wasn’t his.
Everything fell apart after that night. We argued constantly. He kept denying it, I kept saying I knew he had it, and every fight got worse than the last. Eventually, we decided to break up. Now he’s telling me how he can’t accept what I do for work anymore, how he’s been “blinded” by love, how he can’t look at me the same way. It feels like everything I ever told him about myself — my job, my life, my choices is suddenly being used against me. I’m just so hurt. I lost the relationship I was fighting so hard to save. And I lost the most expensive, meaningful thing I ever owned.
It’s been about a week now. He still continues to deny taking it. I filed a police report, so it’s an open investigation. I still have the original box it came in and the authenticity card with all the details proof that it was mine. But the watch itself is gone. Sometimes I tell myself it’s just my karma for going behind his back. That I deserved this somehow. That I broke the trust first, and this is what happens. But even if it was my mistake, even if I was wrong… I just wish he’d admit it. I wish he’d just tell me the truth. I wish someone would tell me what happened to it. Because not knowing and losing both him and the watch in the same week hurts more than I ever thought it would.
