The 2022 FIFA World Cup is to be held in Qatar on 21st Nov 2022. This will be the 22nd season of the FIFA World Cup Competition. This is scheduled to be played in the Host Country Qatar in 2022 from 21st Nov to 18th Dec. This is the first time Arab country is hosting an international football world cup, and this will be the second world cup held in Asia after the 2002 tournament of Japan and South Korea. This tournament will be the last with 32 teams than the tournament which is scheduled to be held in 2026 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico with an increase of 48 teams. France is the reigning world cup Champions till now. Due to the summer heat of Gulf Countries, this world cup tournament will be held in late 2022 Nov-Dec. This tournament will be played for 28 days.

Qualified teams

Qatar: The host nation Qatar has been qualified earlier for FIFA World Cup 2022 on 2nd December 2010.

Argentina: Argentina is from one of the top 4 Conmebol teams that made its way to the finals on 16th November 2021. Argentina was qualified by 29 points.

Brazil: Brazil was qualified by draw as they are one of the top four teams of Conmebol on 11th November 2021 and made its place in the finals of FIFA World Cup 2022.

Serbia: Group A winner Serbia was qualified directly to the world cup 2022 finals, playing against Portugal at Lisbon.

Spain: Spain from group B made its way to the finals on 14th Nov 2021 playing against Sweden.

Switzerland: The group winner Switzerland from group C made its way to the finals of 2022 by defeating five teams from group C Italy, Bulgaria, Switzerland, Northern Ireland, and Lithuania.

France: From group D, France made its place in the finals of the 2022 world cup, they played against Kazakhstan on 13th Nov Dec in Parc des Princes, Paris and won this match.

Belgium: Belgium played from Group E and made its place in the finals of the world cup 2022. Belgium was the group winner of the team’s Wales, Czech Republic, Estonia, and Belarus.

Denmark: Denmark also qualified for the 2022 FIFA world cup by defeating group F teams. They played on 12th Oct 2021 against Austria at Parken, Copenhagen.

Netherlands: The Netherlands qualified from Group G directly to the world cup 2022 finals defeating six teams.

Croatia: Group H consists of a total of six teams and Croatia made its place in finals 2022 on 14th Nov 2021 playing against Russia at Stadion Poljud, Split.

England: England became the group winner by defeating six teams of group I and qualified directly to the FIFA world cup 2022 finals.

Germany: Germany from group J has won UEFA Group J on 11th October 2021 against North Macedonia at Tose Proeski Arena, Skopje, Republic of North Macedonia, and Qualified for the FIFA world cup 2022.

Venues

There will be around eight stadiums prepared for the FIFA World Cup 2022 In Qatar and near Qatar (Doha). Some stadiums are under construction but will be ready before the world cup finals.

Al Rayyan – Education City Stadium with the capacity of 45,350, Ahmed bin Ali Stadium with the capacity of 44,740, and Khalifa International Stadium with the capacity of 40,000.

Doha – Stadium 974 with a capacity of 40,000, and Al Thumama Stadium with a capacity of 40,000.

Lusail – Lusail Iconic Stadium with a capacity of 80,000.

Al Khor – Al Bayt Stadium with a capacity of 60,000.

Al Wakrah – Al Janoub Stadium with a capacity of 40,000.
