There are 32 weeks between now and the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup! There are 32 teams in the Tournament. Each week, I’ll do a Deep Dive into one of those teams and let you know exactly what you can expect from each country participating in this year’s World Cup.

BRAZIL

Participation in World Cups: Played in every single FIFA World Cup. Brazil is the only country to have played in every world cup and they’ve never even needed the play-off match in order to qualify.

Best Finishes in World Cups: 5 x Champions (1958, 1962, 1970,1994, 2002). Brazil holds the record for most World Cup titles and is one of only 4 countries to win a World Cup away from its own continent.

Current FIFA Ranking: #1. In terms of FIFA Ranking Points, only Belgium is even close to competing with Brazil’s impressive 1833 Rating points.

Description of Qualification Process: Brazil dominated an always competitive CONMEBOL (South American) Qualification marathon. One of COVID’s most bizarre sporting moments caused the first matchup Brazil & Argentina to go unplayed. They tied in their other match-up and both countries went undefeated throughout the entirety of the Qualification campaign. Brazil finished with 14 wins, 3 draws & +35 Goal Differential. An undefeated Argentina squad finished still 6 points behind them in the table.

Projected 2022 World Cup Finish: 1st. I predict that Brazil will win the 2022 FIFA World Cup — not too bold of a take all things considered. Most Betting Sites have them listed at about 5–1 odds. France & England boast similar odds, with all other nations trailing behind.

Key Players: Brazil has more turnover and a deeper player pool than any other nation in the World Cup (only England is even close). We don’t know exactly who will be on the 2022 World Cup Roster yet, but it would be shocking if any of these names are left out:

GK — Allison Becker (Liverpool) - As an LFC fan I have no hesitations about calling Allison the best Keeper in the world!

Def — Brazil has tough decisions to make in the back. Legends Thiago Silva & Dani Alves are both over 37-years-old in age. They might have to turn to World Class talent like Danilo, Marquinhos, Alex Sandro & Militao this time around.

Mid— Coutinho, Casemiro, Fabinho, Paqueta & Fred (I don’t know who will play but they are all fantastic players).

F — Richarlison, Neymar, Gabriel Jesus & Firmino — Just the fact that Brazil will have at least one of those players coming on off the bench is terrifying…

Style of Play: This is a team that will dominate possession and wow fans around the world with its flair. Expect solid defending and the world’s best in the net. Will Brazil score enough goals to win the World Cup? I think so.

Conclusion: Will anyone be surprised if Brazil adds a 6th star to the name at the end of 2022? I think this is the strongest team that Brazil have had in at least the past 20 years and the strongest Brazilian squads tend to walk away as Champions.
