Winter Is Here
A Tale Inspired By The Painting 'Winter' by Edgar Ende, 1938

Introduction
I love this image of winter that I found on The Enchanted Booklet on Facebook here:
The music is "White Winter Hymnal" by The Fleet Foxes
Winter Is Here
She is carrying water through a wilderness. The trees have no leaves. They fell in autumn.
The pillar has no chain. Was some creature of the Winter God tethered there? Who knows. The sky is white, like a great swan; other strange black shadow birds fly above the lady, to warmer climes.
She walks in the land forever, impervious to the cold, carrying her bowl to a friend in need of sustenance.
Her journey has a focus, but no end.
She is a white walker in the white snow-covered realm of Winter.
No flowers grow here, and no animals run; only the black migrating birds while the Winter Swan looks on, over this white world.
