Introduction

This is an almost ethereal paintaing from a Hans Christian Anderson story shared on Facebook by The Enchanted Booklet here:

My take is a slightly different take on the story of the picture.

The Stealer

in the night sky The Stealer floats gathering stars and dreams. Some call him The Sandman because he sprinkles sand in the eyes of humans has he sends them to sleam and to dream.

Wehne he sees the dreams he plucks them from the human and puts them into his bag as the moon watches. This is why when you wake from a dream you realise that you have forgotten it because The Stealer has taken and bagged it. You will never remember that dream.

Sometimes he misses dreams, and then you can keep them and treasure them, but The Stealer is diligent and efficient.

Sometimes we see stars go out, those are the stars The Stealer has collected.

He wanders through teh clouded night, hidden from those that he is to steal from.

The Stealer is always there, and if he so chooses, your dreams are his, to be caollected with the fading stars.
