The Call That Came Too Late
Sometimes, one moment can change everything… forever.

Rohan always believed he had time.
Time to call.
Time to meet.
Time to fix things.
But time… doesn’t always wait.
He met Aisha during his first job.
She was confident, outspoken, and full of life.
He was quiet, reserved, and always lost in his own thoughts.
Opposites, as people say.
But somehow… they worked.
It started with small things.
Sharing lunch.
Walking back home together.
Arguing over silly topics.
And then laughing about them.
Aisha brought color into Rohan’s life.
And Rohan gave her a kind of calm she had never known.
Days turned into months.
And friendship slowly turned into love.
But they never really said it out loud.
They didn’t need to.
Or at least… they thought they didn’t.
One evening, Aisha looked at him seriously.
“Where is this going, Rohan?” she asked.
He stayed silent.
Not because he didn’t love her…
But because he was scared.
Scared of commitment.
Scared of change.
Scared of losing himself.
“I don’t know,” he finally said.
Aisha nodded slowly.
That answer hurt more than a rejection.
Because it wasn’t a “no”…
But it wasn’t a “yes” either.
Days passed.
Distance grew.
Calls became less frequent.
Messages became formal.
And one day…
She stopped trying.
Rohan noticed it.
But he told himself, “I’ll fix it later.”
Later.
A dangerous word.
Weeks later, Rohan sat alone in his room.
Scrolling through old chats.
Reading her messages.
Feeling something he had been avoiding.
Regret.
He realized what he had lost.
Not just a person…
But someone who truly understood him.
Someone who stayed.
Someone who loved him… even when he couldn’t express it back.
Without thinking, he picked up his phone.
And called her.
The phone rang.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
Then it stopped.
He tried again.
No answer.
His heart started racing.
Something felt wrong.
The next morning, he received a message.
Not from Aisha.
From her sister.
“Aisha met with an accident last night…”
Rohan’s world froze.
He couldn’t breathe.
Couldn’t think.
Couldn’t move.
“…she’s no more.”
Those words echoed in his mind.
Again.
And again.
And again.
He dropped his phone.
And for the first time in his life…
He broke down completely.
That call he made…
Was the call that came too late.
Days later, he stood outside her house.
Holding flowers.
Hands trembling.
He whispered softly,
“I love you, Aisha… I always did.”
But this time…
There was no one to hear it.
Final Thoughts:
Don’t wait for the perfect moment to express your feelings. Because sometimes, “later” becomes “never.” Love is not just about feeling — it’s about saying it, showing it, and choosing it before time takes the chance away.
