Cats Gone Wild
“Benjamin, your life can change unexpectedly, so make the most out of your life.” That’s what my mom would usually say to me. My mom would always give me advice because that’s the caring mother she was. She would usually tell me that I should enjoy my youth while it lasts because my younger years will pass by quickly. Dr. Eleanor Harper navigated the hallowed halls of her laboratory, a sanctum pulsating with the energy of scientific revelation. At thirty-five, she carried the weight of intellect in every stride, a woman on the precipice of an uncharted frontier. The forest path was uneven. He felt every rise and divot in the earth, every loose stone that twisted under his boot. With every step, his leg complained with a bright pinch of pain as if to remind him that he was - in fact - broken. He couldn’t decide which was worse, the walk to the cabin that he was now forced to call home, or the wagon ride through Wolf’s Pass; a jostling, hellish ordeal over the border that made him question his sanity. At least in the wagon he still had his brothers with him.
