A Girl In the Dark Woods
A Tale Inspired By 'Little Red Riding Hood' from 'My Book of Favourite Fairy Tales', illustrated by Jennie Harbour

Introduction
This is inspired by a wonderfully eerie Red Riding Hood picture shared by The Enchanted booklet on Facebook here:
My tale is a different take on what I see in the image.

A Girl In the Dark Woods
The girl walks this path in the dark woods, but she has no fear. People think she may be prey for the dark creature following her. That dark creature is her friend; they look out for each other.
She found it with a leg in a vicious wolf trap. She freed the creature and nursed it back to health. It only kills what it needs for sustenance, and neither of them countenance unnecessary cruelty.
She calls herself The Lady Of The Woods and has true friendship with all creatures that live there.
The woods welcome her and her dark friend.
This is why the girl walks the dark woods without fear.
