Incredibooks: “The Undertakers” books 2 & 3

So at the end of part one of Shona Knights’s Undertaker series we found our young leading lady Wren escape the clutches of her manipulative and evil older brother Robert. The first stop on her journey to liberation landed her in the arms of an unsavory character who in turns leads her in the arms of her pen pals. In “My Fearless Fugitives” and “My Crazy Killers”, parts two and three of the series, respectively, we continue the journey of Wren and her lovers as they struggle to find freedom and a loving coexistence with one another.

We immediately pick up with the young and naive little Wren having escaped the prison she called home and right at the off she ends up with a sketchy biker character who seems like a possible help line, but is revealed to be a predatory villain, but before any real harm can be inflicted on our girl Wren she is rescued by her fearless fugitive pen pals Sly, Dex, Jagger and Pete. The quartet have become infatuated with the young girl who showed them friendship from behind bars. After spending time together and learning about the works she was sheltered from their bond grows into romance and before you know it, Wren has four boyfriends.

As if this wasn’t enough, Wren and the quartet soon learn that their prison escape that led them to Wren was orchestrated by Wren’s childhood best friend and love interest Elias, who has now become a brain for the FBI and has been adamant to take down Wren’s evil older brother all for her safety. For me, Elias is without a doubt the most interesting character of the story. He’s not a hardened criminal like Wren’s fearless fugitives, but he is a fighter and is deeply devoted to Wren out of his long-standing love for her.

When Elias meets Wren’s crew the tension is already front and center. The guys don’t like Elias off the bat because they know he’s in love with their girl and Elias doesn’t exactly like the crew very much as well because he views them as unfit roughnecks who are ruining Wren’s innocence. Nevertheless they all learn to tolerate each other for Wren’s sake. Though Elias is initially not fond of Wren’s newfound harem and the harem is not initially fond of Wren’s childhood bestie who she clearly has feelings for, brushes with death and saving each other’s lives opens the eyes of the five men to an understanding that they are all meant to be one family united in their love for Wren and understand that they all hold a special place in her heart that is meant to be shared.

Once they all finally become not just a family, but a team, they are caught in a race against the impossible as they fight to overcome Wren’s evil older brother and the crime figure Ivan who he was selling Wren to, who also has a secret personal connection to the rest of the crew. As they fight from dusk til dawn for their freedom and their lives, Wren comes into her own as a woman and a lover as she is forced to make decisions she never fathomed all for the sake of having a beautiful life she never existed.

This book series has definitely become a new favorite of mines. I found its journey of love and graphic discovery to be very relatable, as well as the personal chemistry between the characters. I definitely recommend this book series for anyone out there who has the guts to read an action packed love story.
