How Grandpa got his scar

Those old days

By Jonathan UmukoroPublished 11 months ago 3 min read

Once upon a time, in a quaint little village nestled amidst rolling hills and lush forests, lived a wise and beloved grandpa named Edward. He was renowned for his captivating stories that always left the children of the village mesmerized.

One sunny afternoon, as the children gathered around Grandpa Edward under the shade of an ancient oak tree, they begged him to tell the tale of how he got the intriguing scar that adorned his weathered face.

Grandpa Edward chuckled warmly, his eyes twinkling with memories as he began his story. He recounted his adventurous youth when he was a daring explorer, seeking the mysteries of the world beyond the village.

Many years ago, when he was just a young man, Edward set out on an expedition to the distant mountains, accompanied by his faithful dog, Riley. They ventured through dense forests, crossed gushing rivers, and braved treacherous terrains, all in search of a fabled hidden treasure said to possess magical powers.

As they reached the foothills of the majestic mountains, they encountered a band of fierce bandits, known for their ruthless ways and determination to protect the treasure at any cost. The bandits demanded that Edward hand over the map to the legendary treasure.

Refusing to surrender, Edward stood tall and defended his cherished map. A fierce battle ensued, and even Riley, his loyal companion, fought valiantly at his side.

Though they fought with all their might, the bandits outnumbered them, and Edward received a deep gash on his cheek from a bandit's blade. But the scar only strengthened his resolve, and he fought on, determined to protect the secrets of the treasure from falling into the wrong hands.

As fate would have it, just when it seemed that all hope was lost, a thunderous roar echoed through the mountains. An ancient guardian dragon, said to have protected the treasure for centuries, emerged from the shadows. The bandits, realizing the peril they faced, fled in terror.

The dragon, however, sensed the goodness in Edward's heart and recognized him as a worthy soul. The guardian dragon spared his life and allowed him to keep the map, knowing that he sought the treasure not for personal gain, but to unravel the mysteries of the world and share its wonders with others.

Grateful for the second chance, Edward and Riley continued their journey. The guardian dragon led them to the hidden entrance of the treasure's secret chamber. As they stepped inside, they were surrounded by dazzling jewels, ancient artifacts, and magical relics from long-lost civilizations.

Edward realized that the treasure was not merely material riches but a collection of knowledge and wisdom that could enrich the lives of everyone in the village. With a heart full of gratitude and humility, he decided to leave the treasure undisturbed and instead share the wisdom he gained from his adventures with his fellow villagers.

From that day on, Grandpa Edward became the village's most treasured storyteller. He regaled the children with tales of bravery, kindness, and the wonders of the world, inspiring them to embrace their own adventures and seek knowledge and wisdom in every corner of the earth.

As the children listened in awe, they understood that the scar on Grandpa Edward's face was not just a mark of a brave encounter; it was a symbol of his indomitable spirit, his unwavering pursuit of knowledge, and his determination to share the wonders of the world with those around him.

And so, the legend of how grandpa got his scar became a timeless tale, reminding everyone in the village that every scar has a story, and behind every story lies the wisdom of a life well-lived.
