Uplifting Yet Grounding; Simple Essential Oil Scrub Recipe
Only Four Ingredients to Make
I have recently discovered a love for essential oils; each one comes packed with a whole list of super abilities that can enhance and level up your life… much like those items you collect to level up on your favorite RPGs (Nerd here, don’t worry if you don’t get every reference).
I recently noticed that I had a lack of clarity in my life, I had lost (or never truly found) the ability to focus. I needed what I thought was an oxymoron; to remain grounded (calm and relaxed) yet gain more clarity and focus. Enter my super essential oils; Rosemary and Eucalyptus.
Benefits of Rosemary Essential Oil
- Relieves Stress
Rosemary essential oil is perfect at enhancing your mind and calming your nerves. It stimulates mind activity therefore a good solution for depression, fatigue, and absent-mindedness. From personal experience, just inhaling rosemary oil can seem to lift your mind immediately. It has also been proven through studies to reduce the amount of cortisol in saliva. Cortisol is the stress hormone our bodies produce from our "fight or flight" reflexes; a hang up from when we faced life or death situations on a daily basis. Use the Rosemary and let it go!
- Boosts Immune System
Antioxidants are more than just a buzz word, they are some of the most valuable weapons we have in our body for fighting off infection and diseases. Any food or essential oil that either adds to or stimulates the activity of antioxidants (like Rosemary Essential Oil) is a huge benefit to personal health. Rosemary oil can increase the strength of the immune system and help combat all the diseases associated with nasty free radicals.
- Relieves Pain and Inflammation
Rosemary is used extensively in treating headaches and muscular pain. It has certain anti-inflammatory qualities as well, which makes it very good for relieving the pain from sprains and joint aches. Furthermore, it is known to stimulate blood circulation.

Breath is life. Say it one more time with me. Breath is life! Therefore, anything that improves your quality of breathing deserves your time. Eucalyptus essential oil improves many breathing conditions because it helps to stimulate your immune system, provide antioxidant protection and improve the quality of your breath cycles. Eucalyptus makes it feel easier to breathe when you’re blocked up or your nose is running and is even used as a natural sore throat remedy.
- Relieves Pain and Inflammation
Like Rosemary Oil, Eucalyptus oil has the ability to relieve pain and reduce inflammation. When it’s used topically on the skin, eucalyptus can help to reduce muscle pain, soreness and swelling. Combining the two gives your body a double whammy!
- Alleviates Headaches
The stresses of modern day life, the positions we work in, the positions we relax in; for me personally they always lead to one thing, headaches!
Eucalyptus oil is one of the best essential oils for headaches because it is known to reduce sinus pressure that can cause a lot of pain and tension. It also promotes relaxation of tense facial muscles (helpful for those of us, like myself, who hold tension in their jaw.) This is particularly helpful when you are suffering from a headache caused by stress.
- Ethically sourced Himalayan Rock Salt
- Coconut Oil
- 6 drops of Rosemary Essential Oil
- 3 drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Combine the coconut oil and the drops of essential oils. Dependent on climate your coconut oil may be solid of liquid. Use a wooden spatula to stir the oils together, creating warmth and a smooth texture.
Add equal parts salt as you do coconut oil, spend time inhaling the vapors as you once again stir, taking time to ensure all is combined and a decent texture.
Cover/Seal the mixture. Allow to sit for a few hours. Depending on climate, the mixture may slightly separate but just gently remix until happy with consistency upon using.
Use on damp skin, gently work in circle motions paying attention to the body and the sensations. Be mindful during the action, pay attention to the sensations and allow the affects to take place. DO NOT SCRUB HARD OR WITH MANIC INTENT.
The scrub should leave your body feeling smooth and moisturized and your mind calm and relaxed and ready to embrace the next section of your day.
Keep sealed when not in use; the 100% natural ingredients do mean it keeps well over time however I prefer to make this remedy in small batches.
