The most common hair related problem in many Indians is Dandruff. Those white flakes coming up from your scalps. I’m quite sure that, you have also suffered through this at some point in your life and most people do. But unfortunately, the products we use to cure dandruff, just try to curb the symptoms rather than tapping the root cause. But, if you are looking for a permanent solution, then you will need only 5 ingredients and a little bit of intent.

Dandruff is the outcome of dryness of the scalp, which gets worse in winters. It is often accompanied by itching. It can be embarrassing at times. Dandruff is the outcome, if you are using toxic shampoos, if you are not shampooing your hair regularly, not oiling the scalp regularly, or if you are prone to acidity, bloating, or any other digestive problem. Even a lot of stress adds up to the cause. In ayurvedic words, if you have “Vata Dosha”, you are prone to dandruff. Even Modern Dermatology says that ”there is no cure known for dandruff.” But that’s where Ayurveda comes to the rescue. No matter, how savior your dandruff is, I assure you, once if you tried this miracle therapy, it will be rooted out from its cause. Basically, it is a homemade anti-dandruff ayurvedic mask.

The procedure of making ayurvedic hair mask -

1) Take a bowl and mix 3 Teaspoons of curd. Curd is undoubtedly the best natural conditioner and tonic to the hair. It is ideal to curb the dryness of the scalp as it is rich in proteins and fatty acids If possible, use homemade curd.

2) Next mix two teaspoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice. Lemon is well known for dandruff treatment. The pH level of the scalp is perfectly balanced by the vitamin C and citric nature of lemon juice, shedding away the dead skin layers.

3) 3rd ingredient is 1 teaspoon of Mahabhringhraj oil. Along with other medicinal herbs present in Mahabhringhraj oil, the Nagkesar present in it, is an anti-fungal herb. Perhaps it is the best anti-dandruff herb you can get.

4) The next ingredient is small sized camphor. Camphor is the best natural ingredient for calming and soothing. It helps to relax the nerves & strengthens the roots, reversing the damage done to the hair.

5) The final ingredient is ½ teaspoon of Borax powder or also known Suhaga powder. It is especially known to cure dandruff from its root cause.

6) Once you have all ingredients in a bowl, whisk it thoroughly until it turns into a smooth paste.

Please don’t get taken aback by some unknown ingredients that I have mentioned. You can get them easily in any ayurvedic shop.

Gently apply this paste massaging your hair for 5-10 minutes. Once the paste is evenly applied to every part of your hair, let it rest and do its medicinal work for 20-30 minutes. Finally, wash it up with mild natural shampoo. Just after one wash, you will be amazed to see a significant reduction in dandruff.

To avoid future problems related to dandruff, follow the routine of oiling your hair daily with organic hair oil and shampooing your hair regularly.

How many times to apply this ayurvedic hair mask?

This is a subjective issue and depends upon, how badly dandruff is bothering you. In my opinion, twice a week should be good enough.

This ayurvedic remedy doesn’t cause any side effects. It can be used by anyone of any age even daily. It is best to apply in the morning half-hour before the bath. To get the best results, I would like you to use exact same ingredients in the same ratio.

That’s all for this blog. Do share the results of this remedy in comments and also spread the remedy with your family members.
