    The Essence of Winter

    The Essence of Winter

Who doesn’t love the holidays? Aside from being my favorite time of year it also happens to be my birthday month. Something that always puts me in a great mood is trying out new looks every year. With the changing trends and updating techniques so many people follow, recording them for YouTube has always made it easier to look back on and remember how things were done. Learning new ways to apply, utilize, and experimenting with new products has always been a passion of mine. I love testing out new ideas as well. Creating this look was probably one of the many I did this year. It reminded me of the holidays when I was a kid. As a teenager I never really did makeup on myself as much as I wish I did. I was always on Youtube looking at the gurus at that time to get inspiration for doing my own makeup. I joined Youtube in April of 2007, and I think about it. Now I wish I would have done way more creating as of then. Where would I be now? It’s never too late to get started. The beauty industry is still booming!! As well as it's only growing larger by the changing of the trends, and audiences likes, and dislikes. Maybe, just maybe, this coming year will be my year! Let’s do it, let’s get the ball rolling and growing like a snowball. Everything starts from somewhere right?! Yup, I thought so!!

My Top 3 Highlighters of 2017!

My Top 3 Highlighters of 2017!

2017 had a lot of great hits with makeup, highlighters in particular! Personally, I felt that this year was THE year for highlighting and strobing products. Highlighting has been around for some time but it wasn’t always a part of the typical daily makeup routine until recently. There’s creams, there’s powders, there’s loose pigments — there’s options, let’s put it that way. From a subtle highlight to a blinding highlight, you can find just about anything to work with whatever your glowy self desires. Plenty of high and low end brands are coming out with full highlighting kits that offer different shades in the kit to match your skin tone! Light, medium, and dark. Although, sometimes the “dark” kit is more like what a medium should be so I’d like to see more brands really create blinding shades for truly deep skin tones. Pictured above are my personal picks for the best of 2017. Let’s get into the reviews.

    Sephora vs. Ulta Beauty

    Sephora vs. Ulta Beauty

Sephora and Ulta Beauty have quickly become beauty lover’s favorite places to shop for all things beauty. The beauty market is so wide that the options are nearly endless. Many people love Sephora for carrying numerous brands and different types of products ranging from skin care, to hair care, to fragrance, to makeup, and everything in between! Sephora carries higher end/luxurious brands that range in price anywhere from $10-$100 (higher prices also of course). They’ve even come out with their own store brand, which is amazing by the way, if you aren’t looking for drug store brands and aren’t looking to pay for pricier brands, the Sephora brand is smack dab in the middle. The prices are affordable to meet budgets, the quality is very nice, and there is a huge selection! I’d say the Sephora brand is a very good start for girls (or boys) in high school that want to start wearing makeup, beginners that are figuring out what works for them, and pros! The brand really accommodates to a wide audience so anyone can find what they need which is important, I can’t stress inclusion enough. VIB Rouge. Yes, VIB Rouge... The exclusive level of the Sephora rewards program that I am kind of, maybe, sort of, proud to be in. It means I love makeup (maybe a little too much) and I’ve spent $5,000+ in a calendar year. Yeah, you read that right! The rewards program also offers two lower levels, Beauty Insider and VIB. It doesn’t matter which level you are, the rewards are about the same! A free birthday gift, exclusive events in store, and holiday discounts! As if you needed another reason to run to Sephora right now, I know, I’m sorry! Another great thing about Sephora is the free samples. Ah, samples! You can literally go in and ask an employee to give you samples of all the products you’ve been wanting to try with no obligation to purchase them that day. Sometimes the Giorgio Armani foundation is looking really good to me but not to my bank account and that’s alright! I don’t have to starve to get that $64 foundation when I can get a sample or two to hold me over until I can purchase it. The Sephora samples I’ve gotten over the years is what has kept my face matte, my hair shiny, and my savings full.

    Brushy Fresh

    Brushy Fresh

I love the feeling of a brand-new makeup brush on my skin! Lucky me I get to fall in love every day. Let's get real for a minute, we all love our expensive makeup brushes but sometimes we may not take care of them like we should. Trust me, there is always time to clean your brushes before they touch your face and this is why there is always time! Let’s just start with the common reasons why you should keep your beautiful brushes clean. Brush cleaner will help them keep their shape and smelling good. Applying products and then not cleaning will cause them to have a build up of the products you use on them. This will cause two things to happen. One, you will not get a true color match when you apply your favorite eye shadow! I'm in love with the Rosegold mineral eye color but if I used the Amber Blaze then dip it in Rosegold it will change it! Which in some cases you want to do but never with the leftovers on your brush, yuck! The second thing that is going to happen is you will not get the right application you are looking for. When using your dirty brushes, it will have build up on them so it could be spotty and cause you to use more makeup to cover you up the not so good application. This is one way you are spending more money than you have to, buying more makeup than what you need. Another way you will spend more money than you need is buying more brushes. By not cleaning them, you are then buying more because they smell, look nasty and are not applying the products the way they first did. Why spend that money when you could just buy a good brush cleaner and spend your money on a special treat for yourself like a new eye color, cheek color or an amazing bronzing powder! Back on track, let’s get to some of the reasons that you may not think about. When your brush touches your face everything that is on your face is now on your brush. If you have trouble with acne this could be the reason why! There will be build up of all the junk that has been on your face and you keep putting it there! This is clogging your pores and can cause you to have acne or skin irritation. Then again, with the irritation you will have to apply more makeup to cover it up and you are spending more money than you should! In case you have not figured it out yet, I do not like to waste money by not cleaning your brushes and that is basically what you are doing! Now, let us go a little deeper into our brush cleaning adventure. If you like bacteria, pink eye and other infections, then not cleaning your brushes is for you! Well I have to tell you all of these things are a likely possibility when you do not clean your precious brushes. In some cases, not cleaning your brushes with the bacteria can lead you to go blind, NO LIE! Like I said earlier everything from your face gets on your brush. When it sits and is not cleaned and then used over and over again that is a breeding ground for bacteria! These bacteria can lead to many things like pink eye. Which leads me into another subject on not sharing brushes, eyeliner, mascara and other products like these. You love your bff but you don't know if they clean their brushes. You are getting ready for an epic night out and OMG you forgot your smudger brush! How are you going to get that perfect eyeliner and smokey eye? No biggie, your bestie has your back. Or so you think until the next day when you have pink eye......yes it could happen! Next time you will remember and not only keep your brushes clean but only use your own! These are just a few reasons why you should always clean your brushes. I hate it when someone calls and tells me that they have pink eye or that they need a new brush when they haven’t had it that long. Buy yourself a good brush cleaner, brush set and take care of it and it will last for years and your face will thank you!

My Top 6 Makeup Products of 2017

My Top 6 Makeup Products of 2017

With the thousands of products that are released at Sephora, it can be daunting to walk into beauty stores. Before I tested and tried as much makeup as I do now, I just grabbed whatever the sales representative suggested. However, hopefully, with my favorite products that I have tried in 2017, it can give you some ideas on what to grab!

    Face Paint

    Face Paint

Maybe I should wear makeup. I never thought I needed it, but I feel you don't like what you see. Maybe I should pick up a brush and create something new. Would I be enough for you with paint on my face and pink powder on my cheeks? Would I be the kind of girl you'd show off to your friends if I wore more feminine clothes covered in flowers and lace? If my hair were longer, if I had a straight smile, if I flipped my hair back every time I laughed, would I be pretty then?
