The high king Khalifa poured out a glass of wine with his own hands, slipped a anesthetic into the cup, handed it to Hassan, and said, "On my life, brother, I must return this wine to you. Drink it."

"Thank you for your respect! I will take this cup of wine, which I swear on your life."

Hassan said, took the glass, drank it and fell to the floor like a dead man. The king hurried to the door and said to Mashron, "Carry your young master out of the house, shut the door as you come out, and then carry him back to me."

The king finished his orders and hurried back to the palace.

At the king's command, Mashren took Hassan out on his back, closed the door, and followed the king back to the palace.

When he placed Hassan in front of the high king, the Caliph, it was nearly dawn and the chickens were crowing. The great King Khalifa looked at Hassan in a coma and smiled. Immediately he sent his prime minister Zhang Erfan to the palace and said to him, "You must recognize this young man carefully. Tomorrow he will wear my palace clothes and sit on my throne. He also ordered his princes, ministers, civil and military officials and servants to follow his instructions and serve him well. Tell them that they must follow his instructions, and that you must do respectfully what he tells you, and that no one disobeys him."

Zhang Erfan accepted the task and retired.

When the king had finished his orders, he went back into the harem and summoned the ladies to Hassan's side. They said, "Tomorrow, when this sleeper wakes from his dream, all of you must kneel down before him, gather around him and wait on him, dress him in my palace robes and crowns, and wait on him like a king. Say to him, 'You are the Caliph. '" Then he arranged in detail how he would talk to Hassan and wait on him, then retreated behind the curtain, put it down, and went to sleep.

All the while, Hassan slept soundly.

At sunrise the next day, one of the maidens came to him and said, "Your Majesty, it is time for morning prayers."

Hassan woke up and looked. The walls and ceiling were painted gold, the doors and Windows were draped with embroidered silk, and there were gold and jade, ceramic, crystal and velvet ornaments all around them. Hassan was stunned and confused. He thought to himself:

"Oh! By Allah, am I in a dream? Or awake? Am I in heaven?"

He could not understand and simply closed his eyes. Then one of the footmen said, "Your Majesty, you don't usually sleep till this hour without getting up!" Then the palace moths color women rushed to the bed, attentive to him, to help him get up. He could not understand why he was sleeping in the dragon's bed, covered and lined with silk. He leaned on the pillow, looked at the gilded palace, looked around him at the maidservants, and laughed to himself. He said to himself, "By Allah, I do not seem awake, nor do I seem to dream."

He stood up, then sat down again, confused.

The lady in the palace could not help but snicker. He bit his finger awkwardly. It hurt, and he became more confused. The king was hiding behind the curtain, grinning at his embarrassment. Hassan surveyed the scene and quietly called up one of his maids.

"By Allah, slave boy, am I the Caliph of the great King?"

"Yes, by Allah, you are the Caliph."

'Are you lying? He didn't believe it.

He summoned an older servant, who came forward, knelt down and asked, "What is your Majesty's command?"

"Who is the caliph?"

"You are the Caliph."

"You lie."

He asked one of his guards again: "By Allah, my friend, am I the Caliph?"

"Yes, by Allah. Your Majesty, you are indeed the Caliph, the supreme emperor."
