Everyone wants their hair to be strong and shiny. But reaching that place can be challenging. Most of us have a laid back attitude when it comes to hair removal.

When it comes to your hair type, strength and volume, genes do play a role. But that does not mean you can not control your hair.

Now we will introduce 10 steps you can take to help strengthen hair strands, promote hair growth and improve the look, feel and health of your hair.

1. Turn the heat down

Hair dryers, hair straighteners, thermal curlers and other heated styling tools can cause damage to your hair, especially if your hair is thin, dry or breaks easily. Too much heat will weaken your hair, causing it to be damaged or frizzy.

In order to limit the damage caused by hair drying, researchers who conducted a study in 2011 recommended placing the hair dryer about 6 inches from your hair and keeping the hair dryer moving rather than concentrating on one place.

Limit the number of blow and other heat stylings to 2 to 3 times a week to give your hair time to recover between treatments.

Set hair dryers and other heated styling tools to a lower temperature to minimize the chance of your hair damage. You can also consider using heat protection products on your hair to reduce damage.

2. Increase your vitamin intake

Like other parts of your body, your hair needs certain vitamins and minerals to stay healthy and strong. Research credible sources suggest that nutritional deficiencies are associated with hair loss.

The most important vitamins and minerals for hair growth are:

Vitamin A: they are found in yogurt, eggs, milk, spinach, pumpkin, carrots and potatoes.

B vitamins, especially biotin: this type of vitamins are present in nut, seeds, dairy products, avocados, salmon, liver and egg yolk.

Vitamin C: this vitamin is present in strawberries, bell peppers and citurs fruits.

Vitamin D: they are present in orange juice, fatty fish, fortified foods such as milk, egg yolk and fatty fish.

Vitamin E: they are mostly found in almonds, sunflower seeds, avocados and spinach.

Iron: mostly present in lentils, spinach, red meat, eggs, clams and oysters.

Zinc: found in pumpkin seeds, lentils, beef and oysters.

If it is not possible to get the nutrients from your food, you may want to consider taking a multivitamin which may have these minerals and vitamins.

However, before taking any supplements (especially biotin) you should consult your healthcare provider. Research shows that excessive intake of biotin can affect laboratory test results.

3. Easy to use shampoo

It is important to keep your hair clean. But some of the shampoos use ingredients that remove natural oils from the hair to reduce greasyness and remove dirt.

Unless your hair is very greasy, you can reduce shampoo two to three times a week instead of daily. Washing your hair too often can dry out the hair and can make your hair shaft weak.

4. Massage the scalp

Accelerating blood circulation in the scalp can help promote the health and condition of the scalp and boost blood flow to the hair follicles.

According to a study, a daily scalp massage of 4 minutes can increase the thickness and strength of the hair over time.

You should massage your scalp by applying pressure in circular motions with your fingers for a few minutes. You should do this on dry hair and also when your hair is wet, before applying shampoo.

You can also use a scalp massager.

5. Increase protein in your diet

Adequate protein intake in the diet is important for your hair growth, because hair follicles consist mainly of proteins. Reliable research sources suggest that a lack of protein in the diet can lead to thinning and hair loss.

Protein-rich foods that can help promote healthy hair include:

• Fish such as mackerel and salmon

• Egg

• Egg yolk

• kale and spinach

• seeds and nuts

• Lean meat

• Meat

• Legumes and beans

6. Try the egg yolk mask

Egg yolk have the same proteins which make up good hair follicles. In addition, according to a 2018 study, the peptides in egg yolk may help stimulate your hair growth.

Egg yolk also have a variety of essential nutrients related to hair growth and hair health, having vitamins A and D, biotin and folic acid.

You can follow the steps below to make your own egg yolk mask:

• Use 3 egg yolks and 3-4 tablespoons. Luke hot coconut oil.

• Mix the two ingredients thoroughly.

• After mixing the mixture thoroughly, apply it on the scalp.

• After applying the mixture, put the shower cap on your head.

• Let it stay on your head for 10-15 minutes.

• Rinse with cold water.

7. Rinse with cold water

Bathing with water which is too hot can cause thermal damage to the roots and cuticles of the hair. The steam in the shower will open up the cuticle on the hair, which can cause the hair to dry, curl and break easily.

Always use warm water to lather. Then spray the hair and scalp with cold water to end the shower. It can help seal the cuticle of your hair and make it easier for your hair to regain moisture.

8. Apply aloe vera on scalp and hair

Aloe vera have vitamins A, C and ET reliable source. These vitamins can help promote healthy cell growth, including those in the hair. Also aloe vera have vitamin B-12 and folic acid, both can help promote healthy hair.

However, it is not clear whether these beneficial vitamins really penetrate the scalp after topical application of aloe vera.

You should apply pure aloe vera gel on your hair and scalp, or buy some hair products that have aloe vera ingredients.

9. Change towels to T-shirts

According to a research, wiping the hair with a towel after washing can cause hair damage and breakage due to friction between the towel and the hair.

You can choose a microfiber towel, or a simpler and cheaper solution is to use a T-shirt.

The smooth T-shirt fabric produces less friction when dried, thus reducing damage and frizz. Follow these steps to use a T-shirt on your hair:

1. After washing and rinsing, gently press a section of hair to remove as much moisture as possible.

2. You should bend your head forward and wrap the T-shirt around your head in a style of turban.

3. Wrap damp hair in a shirt for 5-10 minutes and then loosen it.

4. Slowly press the T-shirt onto any excessively hydrated hair, then dry as usual.

10. Try the treatment of hot oil

Treatment of hot oil are a good choice to help restore moisture in dry, frizzy or damaged hair.

Coconut oil and avocado oil treatments can be very beneficial. According to a study, coconut oil can minimize protein loss in damaged and undamaged hair.

Like coconut oil, avocado oil also contains fatty acids and vitamins A, B-5 and E.

To perform your own hot oil treatment, do these steps:

 Mix 1-2 tablespoons. Virgin coconut oil (room temperature) and 1-2 tbsp. Avocado oil. You can use more or less depending on how long your hair is, but keep the ratio of the two oils more or less equal.

 Pour the oil mixture into a glass bottle and put it lightly in a pot of warm water.

 Let the oil melt and heat it in the jar for about 2 minutes. You do not want the oil to be too warm, just a little warm and well mixed.

 Test the hotness on the back of the wrist. It must be lukewarm. If the oil looks hot, do not run the risk of touching it. Wait for it to cool.

 After the mixed oil has reached a safe temperature, apply it to the scalp, roots and ends of the hair. Apply the oil to the rest of the hair.

 Put on a shower cap and let the oil soak into your hair for 20 minutes.

 Rinse with warm water.

Obtaining strong, healthy hair requires a lot of effort.

While it is important to keep heat damage and excessive washing to a minimum, what you put in your body is also important.

A balanced diet, which includes a number of vitamins, minerals and protein sources, helps to promote the health of hair and scalp.
