They May Look Great, But How Do You Remove Them?

Having dip powder nails offers a great new look to women who use them on a regular basis. However, after a few weeks, they may need to be removed, so you can reapply them. It can be a bit difficult for some to identify how they can remove the dip powder nails properly, especially if they have never removed these nails before. With that in mind, here’s what you need, and how you can do it.

What Do You Need for Removing Dip Powder Nails?

In order to remove dip powder nails, you will need some nail clippers, a bowl, petroleum jelly, a double-sided file, metal cuticle pusher, acetone and a nail buffer. These are all the tools you need, which will make the removal process process as easy as possible.

Cutting and Filing

Before removing the dip powder nails, you may want to cut them down to the size you want. Filing the nails will remove the top coating. If you have a double-grit nail file, you can use the more powerful side for sealant removal. Keep in mind that buffing can help speed up the process.

Soaking Nails in Acetone

For this process, you will want to add some acetone to a bowl - not too much though. Then you want to add a small layer of petroleum jelly onto the skin around your nails. It will help prevent your skin drying out. Insert your hand into the bowl, and then keep it in there for up to 20 minutes. Take the hand out after 10 minutes to check on progress to see that the removal process is working.

Remove the Dip

After soaking, you will see that the dip will begin to flake off from your nails. At this time, the best thing that you can do is to use the metal cuticle pusher. This will help push the powder polish from the nails. Ideally, you want to avoid adding too much pressure. If it involves a lot of effort to remove, soak the nails in acetone for a few more minutes and try again.

Filing and Shaping

It’s important to note that taking the dip powder off can take a little bit of time. A good idea is to use the grit side file to buff the nails. The idea here is to have consistency and smoothness, which is a great thing to keep in mind. You can then shape your nails based on the shape you want. Keeping them short can prevent broken or split nails.

Hydrate, Massage and Clean

Now you want to use some hydrating oil on your nails. It will help a lot, since your nails will recover quickly and without any issues thanks to the hydrating oil. Massaging your nails can be really helpful too, so it’s a good idea to do this as well.

As you can see, removing dip powder nails can take a bit of time and effort. Yet it’s still very important to do it, especially if you want to keep your nails looking great and healthy.
