We all lead very busy lives and this can mean that a spa day planned for any one of us is usually something that doesn’t usually happen. Every week after work, there’s ball practice for the kids on Tuesday’s, choir practice for the Easter Sunday service on Wednesday’s, Friday night bingo with the mom-in-law and the list goes on and on.

If you’re always too busy but you’d still like to treat yourself or someone else you love to a relaxing day at the spa, you can do it on a budget without hurting your pocketbook and even in the privacy of your own home!

With everything that has been happening to all of us in the last year, it’s a perfect way to stay safe as well as have a homemade spa around right at your own fingertips.

A daily spa treatment can make anyone including yourself feel extra special. So now that I have your divine attention, here’s a wonderful way to organize and create an inexpensive spa day at home:

Make the atmosphere relaxing.

The very first thing that you need to do is make the area you are going to have your spa seem very relaxing. There’s nothing like when you first walk into a room that the atmosphere surrounding you is serene and tranquil. If your room has a dimmer switch, you can dim the lights and light the area with scented candles. Just make sure that the scent isn’t overbearing or drowning the room. You want to make it very inviting. If you don’t have any scented candles, then unscented would do just fine. Next, you will want some instrumental music playing in the background that is soothing and easy listening. You can find this kind of music on an app on your phone like Spotify or iTunes. Find out what music would work best for you. If a spa room is something you want to always have available, you may create for yourself a song list so that the songs can repeat over and over again during spa time. If you have a soft robe you already own, you can utilize that to wear during spa time along with using a thick towel for your hair. If you don’t have either of these things, now would be the time to splurge for your new spa at home setup.

Create your own homemade spa water.

Don’t start your spa experience at home with boring tap water. Spice it up a bit and have that spa water ready at hand so you can stay hydrated and refreshed. To do this, just take a clear glass pitcher and add some fresh slices of lime, lemon and cucumber while adding just a touch of mint leaves. Pour this into your favorite wine glass while having a nice lemon or lime wedge on top of it. With just these two steps, your spa experience is already off to a great start!

Have some light, healthy snacks at hand.

Don’t go overboard with this because it can be very simple without having to waste a lot of money. You can create a display of mixed fruit on a mini plate or some fruit kabobs, you could have a platter of chocolate/white chocolate covered strawberries or some Greek yogurt in a dessert cup mixed with fruit. The choice is yours and it’s whatever you would like to have in front of you to enjoy. Just make sure that whatever it is you choose that it’s light and healthy. Leave the bag of Doritos and Hostess cupcakes for another time like maybe during movie night. Now is not the time to pack on the calories.

Warm up some sweet-smelling, bubbly bath water.

Some nice, warm bath water would be especially enjoyable during spa day. You could also wear a spa face mask while you are enjoying it or put a couple of slices of cold cucumber over your eyes as you give yourself time to relax.

A mani/pedi wouldn’t hurt.

Accomplishment is king during spa day. Now is the time to get out your nail kit and get your nails and toenails looking beautiful. Depending on what season it is, once you’ve filed and sanded your nails, pick out what colors you want to use when it comes to nail polish. Make each spa day a new you. You will definitely thank yourself for it when others notice your new look.
