When we talk about acne, only the physical harm to the surface of the skin comes to mind. Yes, this is a grave issue for many girls and boys, but it is what's occurring under the skin that's even more important. What starts out as harmless pimples on the face and neck can blossom into soul-wrenching darkest. And this is far more important.

If you had not had the full effect of puberty in high school or have the short end of the stick, when it comes to the side effects of puberty then you would understand what I am talking about. High school is like a deep dark hole if you fall into one of these categories, trust me I know all about that.

It's the time that bullies come out to play and the mean girls decide to sharpen their craft. And boy do they bring their A-game. This is the reason why just a few pimples can turn into a psychological affair.

Acne is a cause of youth's depression

Never take just a single blemish as just a superficial issue. Self-esteem and identification of one's self take into account physical appearance. What is even more unfortunate is the peck period of acne outbreak is during the roughest t period of a child's life. So, learning self-care and proper acne control is critical during these years.

Let's start with self-image ad self-love.

Girls and boys the pimples and scars left by acne don't define who you are. You are beautiful and your scare makes you unique and builds character. I know it's hard to see things this way but you will soon. I was once in your position, and it wasn't only after I learn to accept the acne scars and apply some push needed advice I was able to treat and prevent the scars at bay.

I was bullied and shamed constantly with horrible names during my phase of it all. It was then, the breakouts got worse and my mind was completely distracted. Anxiety levels skyrocketed, self-esteem and self-worth plummeted, my actions were erratic, and I fell into a period of depression.

I know there is someone when would be going through a similar problem. But let me save you before you fall over the edge. Your scars do not define you and you are beautiful with those scars. And yes, I know exactly what you are going through. Those scars will not be there forever, and the persons talking ill of you will have to eat their words.

In the meantime to live with unnecessary scars on the inside. Instead, use this opportunity to focus on what matters, your education. Channel your rage and hurt and sadness into positivity. This way you do three things for yourself:

  1. Earn the high school diploma that gives you infinite opportunities in the world.
  2. Reduces the amount of stress, which will only bring the hormones under control quicker.
  3. Build the confidence you need in yourself.

Adults, understand acne scars often cut deeper than they appear.

I can remember when My acne troubles started and I started acting out my parents had no idea what was going on. I didn't know how to tell them about what was going on at school. I still don't know if my parents really understood what was going on with me then. But I know that I had to do something to help myself.

Children with scars, especially those with acne, are often being bullied and mistreated at school. In their frustration, they act out because that is the only way they think help can come. Before you punish them, ask them what is wrong? Talk to them daily and give encouragement in any way you can. It can save their life.

What definitely makes things worse, however, is further isolating them. Allowing bullies to continuously beat down on them. If they are trying to make positive ripples, despite what they face, help them to make waves and teach other students to show kindness. It's is vital that you identify the problem and attack it early.

Too many young people are depressed and/or heading down the path to suicide. And it is unacceptable to allow such a similar problem to become the cause of mass shootings.

If you have acne then you are definitely searching for a remedy. It took me a while but I finally established a method that has helped me on my journey. The three-step method I use are:

1. Cleansing twice daily. I use Soap and glory vitamin C facial wash.

2. Moisturize every time I wash with No.7. Hydraluminous Water Surge gel.

3. Treat the scaring with CareVe Retinol serum at night and occasionally I'll use the Maybelline BB cream during the day.
