Is your hair damaged from chemicals of heat or just lacking nutrients for a softer, healthier shiny look and feel? Then there is more you can do to help your hair get back to its healthier shine. But instead of spending more money on hair products your can mix and use this simple hair mask that will give you more benefits. All the ingredients are found right in your kitchen.

What causes leads to damaged hair?

The reason why your hair is falling, breaking, dry, brittle changing color, and stunted is most likely due to:

  1. Lack of nutrients
  2. Lack of moisture
  3. Over-processing from heat or chemicals
  4. Lack of proteins

Outside of other problems with the body like stress, poor nutrition, and poor circulation, these are the 4 most common causes of unhealthy hair. I cannot stress enough how important for everyone to care for their hair.

The hair is also an indicator that there is something wrong or lacking in the body. For example, lack of protein in the body and by extension to the hair can result in dry brittle, and frizzy hair strands. While dry husky hair results from poorly hydrated strands. Or poor circulation often leads to stunted hair growth. So it is extremely important to pay attention to the changes occurring with your hair.

Recipe for homemade hair mask for damaged hair

The ingredients for this mask include:

1 brown egg

1 tablespoon mayo, anyone you like

1 tablespoon honey

1 teaspoon coconut oil.

  1. Instructions:
  2. The first thing is to mix all the ingredients into a small mixing bowl, until even consistency.
  3. Comb out your hair. If your hair is oily, it would be good to wash your hair the day before.
  4. Divide the hair into 4 sections. Saturate each section with the mixture.
  5. roll each section into a bun, secure well, and cover with a plastic cap.
  6. Allow the hair to sit for at least 1 hour. This gives the ingredients time to work on every strand, and with the optimum body temperature generated by the body, it works better.
  7. Release every section, comb through with a wide-teeth comb. Rinse the hair, shampoo, and condition as normal.
  8. If you are going to apply heat to your hair, then I would recommend using the Mizani Press Agent line of products.
  9. Curl and style as normal.

The absolutely love this line, because it helps my hair stay healthy after 450 degrees on the straight iron. Below are my affiliate links to the entire line of hair products:

What you should know?

I understand that you would want all the split ends, and the dry falling hair to disappear after this wash. But the truth is, that wouldn't happen right away. In fact, there is no hair treatment or hair mask that will completely cure all the problems with damaged hair with just 1 wash.

So what should you aim for?

The realistic achieve with this coconut oil-infused homemade hair mask are:

  1. After the first wash, you should see a noticeable reduction of the amount of hair falling with or without combing. When you apply the hair mask and leave it for the recommended amount of time, the strands are moisturized and the weak strands are strengthened. Yes only after 1 wash.
  2. The roots and shafts of the hair strand closest to the scalp change completely. Noticeable changes that are evident after 1 wash includes, stringer roots, moisturized and thicker strands, and the natural hair color will pop. The thin hair strands that are severely damaged or which have already broken off from the main strand will show no changes.
  3. If you have many badly damaged split ends, then I recommend you trim off these ends. While this hair mask will change much of the hair strand after only 1, every end with lots of breakages should be trimmed off to prevent further splitting of the rest of the strands.

When can you start seeing drastic changes to your hair?

Most times this particular question is answered, it often after continued use. But for this homemade hair mask, after the second wash, you will see drastic changes. I kid you know, and I will share my story with you later. The earliest you can do the second wash is after 7 days.

Every time you apply the homemade hair mask, The proteins, vitamins, minerals, and water are absorbed into the hair strand to cause changes. What is washed away is the excess. But what remains should be allowed to work on the hair strand. In about 6-7 days is a good time, but by then you would want to wash your hair if you are accustomed. But you can apply this hair mask anytime fitting to you after 7 days.

Testimony: When I first used this hair mask I expected to see more changes in my hair. I expected my hair to immediately stop falling and the breakage to cease immediately. But that didn't happen. In fact, I felt so disappointed it brought me to tears. Then I remembered what I have read in almost all the articles I read through looking for ingredients for a good homemade hair mask.

The next weekend I made the same mixture, applied it again, and prayed. I allowed my hair to dry naturally. I combed through it with a wide-teeth comb first. and immediately I can see the changes with the strands at the front of my hair. The strands were thick and felt like it has more volume. At this time I was scared to look at the floor. So, I peaked and was surprised. There wasn't much hair there. Don't get me wrong there was more that I wanted but significantly less than before.

Today is the 6th day after the 2nd wash, and tomorrow I'll do another wash. And I wouldn't be afraid to look on the floor because I expect better results.

A little more advice

Do you have dry hair and want to add more or does your children's hair looks like it's drying out too fast? There are 2 oils that have worked wonders on my hair and my sisters' hair since we were young. My mom would mix coconut oil (pure) and castor oil (Jamaican Castor oil) with a small amount of coconut oil vaseline by blue magic. And after the Sunday morning wash, applied it to our scalp and hair, and man our hair grew. You can read more on how coconut oil and castor oil help the hair.

Let's Conclude

Homemade hair masks are becoming a new thing in the world of natural hair remedies. It works excellent with all types of hair and the ingredients are all-natural. More so, they are effective in providing healthy hair. Remember that you might not see significant changes immediately. It can take at least 2 washes to start seeing the results you really want. Don't be discouraged.

The benefits of homemade hair masks are great. But even more, you can apply it to your hair, your daughters' hair, your mother, and another who needs help with hair care.

Tomorrow will be my 3rd wash and I am looking forward to it because I have seen the changes. I put together this hair mask to help my hair which has been chemically straightened and after I tried flat ironing it myself. The result is significantly damaged hair and the only thing I could do was try to fix it. I regret damaging my hair, but i don't regret this hair mask and you wouldn't either.

I would love your feedback on this hair mask remedy. Don't forget to like and share this article.
