Dear Colourpop, Please Collab With These Brands...

From Pokemon To TMNT, They'd All End Up In My Cart

Colourpop

Colourpop recently announced a collab with Lizzie McGuire, and while I currently have no plans to pick it up, I confess that it is an interesting concept. I’ve considered picking up a few of their prior collaborations but have never actually gone through with any of those purchases. So, what franchise collab would end up in my cart?

Pocket Monsters

Pokémon

Colourpop recently released a collaboration with Animal Crossing, which means Nintendo properties aren’t out of the question for them. If Colourpop decided to take their relationship with Nintendo further and collab with Pokémon, there would be endless possibilities. They could even make a collab featuring each generation of Pokémon and crank out dozens of palettes, lip products, eyeliners, blushes, etc. They could even make brushes (something Colourpop is lacking) for this collection. They’d likely run out of ideas before they ran out of Pokémon. I would probably buy every piece of makeup in this collab if I managed to get it before it sold out.

Super Mario Bros.

This is another collab I’d love to see. The iconic stages and characters would lend themselves well to Colourpop’s bright and colorful packaging. I can just see Princess Peach staring at me from my makeup drawer.

Lilo and Stitch

Colourpop seems to have no problem cranking out Disney collabs, so maybe this collab is already in the works. Stitch is highly marketable, and his face seems to be slapped onto every product you can think of. The blue, green, and red color scheme could also create tons of cool looks for fans of both the movie and Colourpop.

The Little Mermaid

This one has technically been done before. Colourpop released a Disney Designer line a few years ago, but the colors in the palette lingered more on the neutral side and none of the princesses got their time to shine. Ariel has a color scheme that could easily translate to palettes, blushes, lip products, etc. It wouldn’t be hard for Colourpop to design packaging based around the mermaid either. Colourpop could go on to do this for every other Disney princess, but summer is approaching, and it would be a wise move to release this one during the summer months.

Lady and The Tramp

Colourpop recently did a collab with Bambi that showed off just how much they like to sneak in those neutrals. Lady and the Tramp would be the perfect collab for them to sneak in more neutrals. It would also be the perfect collab for Colourpop to use to donate a portion to an animal rescue if they wanted to go that route, after all, we do see multiple characters at the pound in the movie. I would probably buy this one for the packaging alone.

Clueless

I can just see the yellow plaid packaging now. This line would be oozing with 90’s nostalgia and would likely sell out quickly. The movie's catchphrases like ‘As If’ and 'Whatever' that would make perfect shade names.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Speaking of oozing, this could be another nostalgia-filled collection. The 80’s cartoon would easily lend itself to packaging, and there would be no shortage of shade names. I’d personally love to see a green glitterly obsessed called ‘The OOZE’. This is another collection where I’d probably buy everything.

Power Rangers

I’m honestly surprised that no brand has ever created Power Rangers makeup. The rainbow-colored rangers could easily inspire multiple palettes, each bearing the chest design of the ranger that inspired said palette. Colourpop loves to release monochromic palettes, so the power rangers would be a perfect fit for them.

Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of The Dark

While I would love to see a series of eyeshadow palettes and blushes to bare the likenesses of Freddy, Jason, and Michael Myers, they don’t fit in with Colourpop’s image. It’s more likely that Colourpop would embrace family-friendly horror, so I would love to see Colourpop create a Halloween collection based on either Goosebumps or Are You Afraid of the Dark?. This would be another collection that sells well because of nostalgia, but it would also be a fresh take on a Halloween collection. While both franchises are iconic, I think I’d prefer to see a Goosebumps one. I’d love to own a palette with packaging that resembles the original books.

Marvel or DC comics

Colourpop already has a working relationship with Disney, who owns Marvel, so this could happen. Both Marvel and DC have a large pool of characters to choose from, as well as a hefty fan-base. Even if Colourpop decided to drawn inspiration from the comic books alone, they’d never run out of ideas.

Popples

What are Popples? Popples are colorful creatures that turn into balls. They were first imagined as a toy but later got a tv series. Netflix recently reimagined them, but I think their 80’s look would work perfectly with the Colourpop brand, especially since Colourpop already did a collab with My Little Pony, which is in the same vein as Popples.
