Let me start off by saying that I have FINALLY perfected my skincare routine based on the seasons. I don't know about you guys but each season I find myself reaching for a different products and I have decided to share those products with all of you! For a little background my skin type is extremely dry during the Fall & Winter months. Between the cold air and the wind I find my skin becomes extremely flaky and dull. During the Spring & Summer months I find my skin extremely oily & red. My makeup simply starts to fall right off my face almost immediately after I put it on. (I have also found my favorite make up brands but that's for a different time). In the article I will discuss the following:
- Face Wash
Wash & Tone
When it comes to washing my face I find myself grabbing Inkey Lists, Saylic Acid Cleanser ($9.99). It is extremely light on your skin and hits all my concerns, from clogged pores to my blemishes that pop up randomly. Not only does it not break the bank but I feel it's extremely underrated for all that it does.
Now when it comes to a toner, I only useKiehls Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol Free Toner ($40) during the summer months. The reason being is that a toner is meant to dry your skin. In the winter months I want to avoid a dry face, summer time this helps maintain my oily skin from the harsh summer air.
I use a number of serums for a number of different things. My favorite serums come from the brand The Ordinary. First things first, the minute I get out of the shower in the morning I use the Caffeine Soultion 5% + EGCG ($6.70) under eye serum. I am the type of person that no matter how much I sleep I will always have puffy & dark circles under my eyes. This serum really helps combat the exhausted look that my under eyes portray. Two other serums I use (mostly at night) are Lactic Acid 10% + HA ($6.80) & Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% ( $5.90). The Lactic Acid helps with any fine lines, wrinkles & dullness. I only use this serum twice a week, instead of retinoid which we will get into later on. Niacinamide is used to help brighten my skin and reduce any signs of congestion. These two serums are completely lightweight, which is another reason why I love The Ordinary products so much. Last serum I will discuss is for my Winter months only, 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil ($9.80) This beautiful amazing invention helps with my very dry skin and is only applied at night after my moisturizer.
There are only 2 creams I swear by, one being for under your eyes and the other being a Retinoid. Let's start off with the eye cream, OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright Eye Crème ($39) This cream is rich in Vitamin C therefore it helps brighten your under eye and is also collagen boosting. When I first came upon this product I for sure thought it was too good to be true, but let me assure you.. IT IS THE BEST. If there is one thing you take from this article please make it that you buy this one product. The Retinoid I use is also used from Inkey List.
The Anti Aging Serum ($9.99) is extremely light weight and isn't too harsh on the skin. When it comes to Retinoid I have extremely sensitive skin so a lot of retinoids make me blotchy and uncomfortable. The Inkey List's product is the opposite of that. I highly recommend it for any sensitive skin.
A moisturizer to me is the most important product. You don't want something too heavy, that leaves a film, or even stiffens the face. When it comes to a moisturizer I go back to the basics, Cera Ve ($14.89). Sometimes the simplest product is the best. I have been using Cera Ve for years (day & night) and it has left me a satisfied customer.
When it comes to skincare remember to keep it simple. Not every product needs to be the most expensive for it to be beneficial. You shouldn't have to break the bank to have a glowy, blemish free complexion.
