5 Worst Habits that Can Damage Your Hair

Hair is such an important part of our body, which not only decides our overall appearance but also protects the underlined skin. However, most folks are knowingly or unknowingly doing things on a day to day which damages our hair. This leads to excessive hair loss, dandruff, premature greying of your hair, and much more. Through this blog, I wish to tap into the root cause of all hair problems and tell you which habits we need to avoid.

No.1 Habit - Using too many harsh chemicals.

Have you ever gone through the ingredient list of shampoo, conditioner, hair oils present in the Indian market? Unfortunately, so many brands in India, are making hair products that have too many harsh chemicals, which may provide short term shine and luster but eventually damage the hair in the long run. Always go for natural hair oils and natural shampoos which are free from sulfates, parabens, mineral oil, fragrances, and synthetic colors. Another way is to stop experimenting too many products on your hair.

No. 2 Habit - Not oiling hair regularly.

Most youngsters these days, avoid oiling their hair but don’t make this mistake. Oiling the hair has multidimensional benefits, but you need to do it in the right way. If you have an oily scalp, 1-2 times a week is good enough, and if you have dry hair consider oiling 3-4 times a week. For dry scalp prefer oiling at night and let it nourish overnight. Whereas, if you have oily hair, 1 hour before the bath will serve the purpose. Using the warm oil and gently messaging the hair in circular motion instantly infuse the blood circulation. Moreover, the oil which you use makes a huge impact. Remember to use cold pressed or natural oils only.

If you are fighting dandruff, Badam oil will be ideal for dandruff and if you have dry hair, mustard oil is ideal

Habit 3 - Combing wet hair.

Hair is most vulnerable when they are wet. So deal carefully while combing the wet hair, else you will have to pay the price. When you are out of the shower, let the hair dry, and then comb. Combing wet hair makes the hair brittle which results in breakage. Also do not vigorously rub the towel against the hair. Always gently tap to dry them out. Do not attend to sleep with wet hair

Habit No. 4 - Excessive heat upon the hair.

Excessive heat in any form is damaging to the hair. Do not blow dryer on your hair on daily basis. Do not use hot hair straighteners on your hair. Once in a while is okay, but don't make it a habit. No doubt Vitamin D promotes hair growth, but excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays of the sun may damage the hair as it sucks the hair moisture. Avoid hot showers. Always wash your hair with room temperature freshwater.

Habit No. 5 - Stress.

It is a very important habit to avoid. High stress levels are very closely related to hair loss. The hormone called cortisol gets increased as stress increases, This hormone cortisol feeds on protein. This protein within the body is lost in the form of hair. Excessive use of social media, heavy workload, the pressure of exams, emotional turnouts are some of the common reasons for increased stress levels. Give yourself a break, meditate daily, enjoy nature, exercise and sweat it out, enjoy festivals. These things really help out to reduce stress levels.

That’s all for this blog. Do share this blog with your family members and comment down which habit you were earlier following, but after reading this, will avoid it.
