Wu-Tang Clan To Be Inducted Into Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

With the Wu-Tang clan finally inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, what does this say for solo careers of the Wu team?

Will Ghostface Killah be able to see induction for his catalogue of songs? Will Raekwon understand what it’s like to be recognized for his own personal work?

This is a major achievement for the rap collective. But what about the individual efforts of RZA and GZA?

Bands and groups are weird. Usually, there will be a lead singer, guitarist, rapper amongst the set. They often break through with their own work.

While it’s great to just be among one’s peers for labor that went into making songs and albums, going on tour and exploring the world, the individualism that should be expressed remains a topic of contention.

Some people feel as if the band is the key. While in fact, there is no band without the individual.

The groups we all love have a poppy that rises above the others. Sometimes, there’s a messy breakup and musical teams fallout over women, playing instruments, and of course money.

But this is corruption and it’s not a problem of egos. The result of selfishness is the ability to know oneself and treat others who’ve deserved it with respect. Ego is what allows people to be successful despite the false stigma behind the word.

Wu-Tang Clan consists of ten official members. I say official because the streets would probably say there are at least 900 Wu-Tang affiliates. These are just the ones who’ve laced tracks.

So on that autumn night when they are ushered into the controversial, sterling halls of the R&R HoF, there will be a rush of excitement that will surge in remembrance of the deceased member Ol’ Dirty Bastard. He made the eleventh figure in the group.

There will be expected tears shed in remembrance of Dirt McGirt. That’ll be expected. But it’s not guaranteed. The Wu is an example of one of the only cliques that have had disagreements but still have stuck together as a crew. Their longevity is due to their persistence and perseverance through triumphs and tragedies. It’s such a wonderful idea to consider that another rap act will be in the Hall despite Gene Simmons' remarks about different genres having their own placements and names in the process.

Speaking of which, he may have a point but they would have to call it the Blues Hall of Fame. Every iteration of popular music is actually a descendant and reflection of the blues.

Wu-Tang stands out with their talents and abilities to float over the production and craft entire albums based on the strength of their intellect. Of all the groups in hip hop, they are at the top. Now, as far as duos, Outkast is the best and paved their way to the Hall last year.

This is rap justice. Wu-Tang finally gets more acceptance as GRAMMYS® have all but eluded the group. As the late, great ODB once announced, “Wu-Tang is for the children.”

With the amount of people of all colors and cultures have embraced the Clan it’s an easy choice to choose the Wu-Tang Clan over the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). They represent something that is more powerful and positive, obviously. But they’ve incorporated, as their name suggests, a yellow influence through martial arts movies and comics.

As Foundational Black Americans, these men have sought to create something of worth and value.

What makes it even more spectacular is the fact that these men know their own substance and will be inducted according to merit. Wu-Tang Forever.
