Verzuz vs anything

Recap of my top 5 favorites

I'd choose verzuz "the online music webcast" created by producers Swiss Beatz and Timberland over any webcast anyday, no cap .

"No cap" is a short slang term for no Capping that has been used in the Hip-hop culture for the last 4 years, which means real talk, I meant it, real serious, I stand by that.

During this hard time we have been fighting to either heal from covid 19 or trying not to catch it, Swizz Beatz and his partner Timberland have given the world the best online entertainment .

Many like myself said t wish Verzuz, the webcast that brings on musical talents, including some of the greatest Icons on stage via Instagram or Facebook live happens more often, instead of randomly. Sometimes we get to watch that online live concert twice a month, Yes an online concert is exactly what it feels like watching Verzuz remotely.

Being quarantined for so long had a lot of people so bored, and losing their minds not knowing what else to do besides watching TV, listening to music, playing games, and taking trips to their refrigerators every so often. πŸ™ƒ

Even though it's called Verzuz, even though it's about two people or groups facing each other performing their songs while fans like myself rate and judge each round, it is more of a celebration than a battle. πŸŽ‰πŸ»πŸ₯‚ 🍾

A celebration of stars and superstars. I meant some of the all time greats who blessed myself and others, singing or rapping their greatest hits πŸ™Œ. So far I've watched and enjoyed every face-off, but here are my top 5 favorites, not in order :

1. Snoop Dogg vs DMX πŸ•πŸΆ

Two heavyweight Hip-hop Artists, Top dogs . Most people will probably say they are in the top list of the most influential rappers worldwide. I feel like they can go anywhere on the planet, somebody will recognize them, especially Uncle Snoop, there is a reason everyone calls him Uncle. They performed 20 songs each, which is the rule of how many songs to play in Verzuz.

We did not feel like somebody lose, well at least not me cause I was one of those fans who just like to sit back, relax and enjoy the show, just have a good time.lose

Two legends took their times to make life a little better in a pandemic, I couldn't ask for more.

2. Alicia Keys vs John Legend 🎹 🎹

This was like a piano face-off with some singing between the Queen, the amazing talented wife of Swizz Beatz ( the Verzuz.Co founder) and the legend himself who's first name is John.

Like his last name, John was born to be a legend, and he became just that. I'm sure both their voices and piano skills helped saving many lives. They really showed and reminded the world how cool playing the piano is, and they were another proof of music has no gender.

Watching Keys on those keys opened the gate of happiness. She always makes my heart smile 😻

3. Beenie Man vs Bounty Killer πŸ‘‘πŸ¦

As someone who's from the Caribbean, watching two great Reggae Artists in my generation go at it was probably the most fun I had in quarantine.

The vibes were on another level, the energy was surreal, they both shook the building. It felt like they set the place on fire, even the police showed up, that made me wonder if firefighters were outside. πŸ€”

Seriously, a few police officers came to stop the fun, maybe they were worried that too much were going on and were making sure things did not get out of hands, but then they realized what was really happening and who were doing it.

After talking to the performers and managers for a little bit, an agreement was reached. At least a million viewers got back to watch the rest of the performance like nothing had just happened.

Two of the best to ever done it in the reggae genre and culture, did it again, and still doing it. I applaud them πŸ‘

Left Jeezy and right Gucci Mane

4. Jeezy vs Gucci Mane β›„πŸ₯Ά

Okay, I know I wrote that verzuz is more like a celebration, but this one felt like it was going to be a real physical battle at one point. 😳

Jeezy who's also known as Big Snow and Gucci Mane, AKA Guwop nearly turned their music performance into a Kimbo Slice street fight ( rest in peace Kimbo).

The two had what we called a " RAP BEEF " for nearly two decades before Big Snow scratched/ended it by asking to do the Verzuz with Guwop. But from what I've learned there was a misunderstanding before that one Verzuz took place.

Jeezy didn't tell Gucci Mane not to perform his diss song, and nothing was off limit. Gucci even said that while they had to stop the music when he was performing that song with lyrics that dissed a dead man who was Jeezy's friend.

Many people truly understood where Gucci Mane anger came from, because Jeezy once sent his friend, the gunman to rob him, but ended up being the one who got killed by Gucci in self defense.

Jeezy got so angry, but tried to keep his composure because he had one plan in mind. He came ready and prepared for if something like that happened there in the Verzuz which many people were proud of him for. Instead of running at Gucci to physically battle him, Jeezy had a few words for him.

Jeezy words were to set up good examples for the youths who look up to him and his used to be friend before they became enemies in Gucci. Here is one of his quotes:

" Those kids are beefing and killing each other because they think it's cool, because we did it dawg " .

No cap, I felt that in my soul. A lot of these young men grew up listening to Gansta Rap are end up dead or in jail because of the bad influence. Therefore I applauded Jeezy for that speech in the middle of their Verzuz πŸ‘

The two have worked together before, so at the end they performed their hit single " SO ICEY ", together.

What a way to end a long time beef. All the fans were happy. It was really a good night. πŸ‘

5. Swizz Beatz vs Timberland πŸŽ›πŸŽšπŸŽ™πŸŽ€

That was the Verzuz of the Co founders, the first ballot Hall of fame producers.

These two have done so much for Hip-Hop even before this Webcast. As a beatmaker myself who has been learning a lot from those guys, I highly encourage others to take the advices and notes. They have been doing it for so long and stay on top of their A games. I've watched older videos and seen pictures of how they started. They were at the bottom of the bottom before they got to sit on top of the roof. They inspire me to never give up on my producer, writer dream, never give up creating. We should never give up at anything we dream of doing.

Both Icons have worked with some of the world biggest talents such as Jay z , Justin Timberlake, Aliyaah, Beyonce, just to name a few.

Even though they are not known for being the vocal talents in all those ongs, their Verzuz wasn't just about playing their beats. They performed all the hits that they have produced or Co produced. Some of them were :

"Try again ", " Big pimpin" , " Cry me a river" , " 99 problems" , and a lot more. It was nothing but a big celebration 🍾

I thank God for being alive, especially when I survived Covid 19 in 2020, and for giving us fans one of the best gifts ever in Verzuz. πŸ™
