Everything I know about the Red Hot Chili Peppers new album, ‘Unlimited Love,’ and a chance to listen to the lead single, ‘Black Summer’, below.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1983.

The band’s musical style primarily consists of funk and elements from other genres such as punk rock and psychedelic rock.

When played live, their music incorporates elements of jam band due to the improvised nature of much of their performances.

The band currently consists of founding members Anthony Kiedis (vocals), Michael “Flea” Balzary (bass), longtime drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist John Frusciante.

Chili Peppers Tease New Song

The band had released a snippet of their new album via social networks on Friday afternoon (28).

The teaser contained a riff from the Chili Peppers new song "Black Summer" that will be featured on the Californian act upcoming album, Unlimited Love, out on April 1, which will follow 2016’s The Getaway.

The band’s fandom highly anticipates the Chili Peppers’ new album as it marks the return of guitarist John Frusciante, who was away from the band for the last decade.

Frusciante Return to Chili Peppers

Frusciante left the band in July 2009 because he wanted to focus on his solo work. In October 2009, the Chili Peppers went back to the studio to work on their tenth studio album, with Josh Klinghoffer replacing Frusciante.

In September, the band worked with producer Rick Rubin and released I’m with You in August 2011.

The Chili Peppers original guitarist Slovak had an aggressive playing style was based on blues and funk.

Frusciante’s musical style was more melodic and emotional. Even if he took a more funky approach, for instance, in Blood Sugar Sex Magik, afterward, he favored a highly textured sound we can hear on Californication, By the Way, and Stadium Arcadium.

Now Frusciante is back with all the overdubs and the magic he brings with him to the band.

Concluding Remarks

The band was working on creating new music while the world was shut down due to the pandemic, and for them, it was a blessing, as they were planning to go out on tour in 2022 when we expect the world can go back to business as usual.

Hence, late last year, the Red Hot Chili Peppers announced a major world tour for 2022. The band will fulfill a schedule of 32 dates, starting on June 4 at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville, Spain.
