Top 7 Songs & Their Meanings to Me

by Juliet cadet 3 years ago in song reviews

You might like a few of them.

To start this off, I’ve had some ups and downs. I’m the type of person that can listen to music and it will make my day a little easier to get through. So, I’m going to give you that list and explain what I taught the song meant to me. And hopefully, it can help you in some way when your down and you want to listen to someone who can relate to you and what you’re going to through. So, let’s begin…

Song #1, 'Not a Damn Thing Changed' by Lukas Graham

This song relates to me because sometimes in life, nothing really changes unless you want it to. Most of the people that I went to high school with is dead, in jail, or pregnant. And I feel like they can’t really blame anyone but themselves. We shouldn’t let people determine how our lives should be. If we don’t want certain things happening in our lives, then we should do a damn thing about it. That song encourages me to do so every day.

Song #2, 'Where You At' by Jennifer Hudson

This song just determines that because some people make certain promises to you, doesn’t mean they're going to live up to it. I’ve been let down by family so much that I no longer believe them when they say the words I promise.

Song #3, 'Why Her, Not Me?' by Grace Carter

This song means a lot to me because 19 years later and I’m still trying to figure out why my father didn’t want to be a part of my life. I always blame myself maybe I wasn’t good enough. Why be apart of your other children's lives and not mine?

Song #4, 'Cry' by K Michelle

This song is basically about a woman who has been cheated on and lied to so many times that the only thing to do now is cheat back. I don’t think a woman should ever have to cheat on a man just to get respect or just to hurt him back. I think she should just leave and maybe he’ll realize what he had because what goes around comes right back around.

Song #5, 'War Cry' by Queen Naija

Peoples lives are being taken away from them every day and there so much racism going. This song encourages listeners to stay in touch with god because the enemy is trying to take over and people should stand together.

Song #6, 'I Wish I Never Met You' by Domo Wilson

To me, this song means no matter how much you do for someone in life, but at the end, if they don’t get what they want, they can make your life miserable. Basically, she did so much for someone she loved worked so hard to keep that person happy and, in the end, she was told that she was worthless and meant nothing to her and that she was never loved.

Song #7, 'We Don't Have to Take Our Clothes Off' by Ella Eyre

In this generation, some teens think being in a relationship means you must have sex. You shouldn’t have to take your clothes off to have a good time. If he truly loves, he should respect your body. A relationship should be more than sex.

Anyways, these are the seven songs that I listen to more than the others. They help me make a few of my decisions when I am in certain situations that relate to the meanings of the songs. I hope when listening to these songs, they can help you. What are some ways that help you get through the day?
