Who is she?

Melanie Adele Martinez is An American Singer, Director and Songwriter , she was born in Astoria, Queens, New York, NY, she was born in April 28, 1995, making her a Taurus ,her early childhood , she described herself to be a really emotional child , the classmates in her school , honestly, used to call her 'crybaby' ,when she got overwhelmed with emotion and in my personal opinion ,she is a Queen for naming her album, Crybaby , and it gaining multiple positive reviews and success.

Continuing on it was hard for her to express herself in her traditional Dominican-Puerto Rican household, so she expressed herself with drawing , photography and songwriting( which I can relate to being in a traditional Hispanic household, myself ,is hard to express yourself, sometimes). She taught herself how to play guitar , so when she got in her teens , she was already making her own songs.

Her first appearance was on The Voice being the sixth finalist and choosing Mr. Adam Levine as her coach but was sadly eliminated by public votes but that didn't bring her down and stay positive about it.

Her self-debut single , Dollhouse, certified her Platinum by RIAA and is the highest rated song till today.

Melanie has two albums and three EP's : Crybaby (2014) , K-12 (2019) ,along with the K-12 movie, Dollhouse (2014),Cry Baby's Extra Clutter (2016) and After School (2020).

The albums and EP's, actually follow the story of a girl named Crybaby, in where we follow her daily life in songs , the album songs being in order of her life and how she copes with it.

Let's start with the list (this are not in a specific order):

1. Lunchbox Friends (K-12)

Lunchbox Friends reminds me of a personal thing that happened , when I was in Middle School, alas, yes , the Middle School Mean Girls, and I did the exact (almost) same thing to them.

Who wants a fake friendship based on bullying and instead wants something real with no judgement, no changing for their sake, just real friendship?

2. Strawberry Shortcake (K-12)

WARNING, you know what, no, this a topic that should be talked about ,Strawberry Shortcake, has two topics that it puts to light, how women grow into their bodies and being told by society how they should dressed up and sexual harassment and being blamed for it.

3. Show and Tell (K-12)

Show and Tell tells shows how artists are treated like objects that can be thrown away , once we (their fans) get bored of them and how hard they try to survive.

4. Mad Hatter (Crybaby)

PURE INSANITY AND FUN ( a lot of nods to Alice in Wonderland).

5. Copycat

Melanie sings about, in my opinion, how some people will put others down for the sake of power and being #1 and finds satisfaction on hurting them.

6. Carousel (Crybaby)

The song Carousel was actually used on a trailer of American Horror Story: Freakshow and is about a relationship that is is put on a 'carousel' as the guy has her chasing him and breaking her heart over and over again.

7. Teacher's Pet (K-12)

This is about a serious issue ,of a teacher taking advantage of a student and the student singing about it.

8. Pacify Her (Crybaby)

I don't condone taking another woman's man but as I seen in a Tik Tok , girl, if that boy has another eyes for another woman , he ain't a boy he is trash as well as her.

9. The Bakery (After School)

The song that Melanie is about a personal experience, she has had working in a Bakery as in my opinion, really catchy.

10. Playdate (Crybaby)

Friends with Benefits as she falls for him.
