There’s a Window in My Room That Shows Yesterday
And someone inside it is starting to notice me.

The window wasn’t always there.
I’m sure of that.
I’ve lived in this room for three years. Same desk pressed against the wall. Same narrow bed by the corner. Same peeling paint that looks like continents drifting apart if you stare at it long enough.
There was never a window on that wall.
Until last Thursday.
I noticed it at 11:42 p.m.
Not because it appeared suddenly, dramatically—but because something felt… wrong.
The room was too bright.
I looked up from my phone.
And there it was.
A window.
Rectangular. Clean. Framed in white.
Exactly where there should’ve been nothing.
At first, I thought I was dreaming.
Or losing my mind.
I stood up slowly, my legs hesitant, like the floor might give way beneath me.
“Okay…” I whispered. “Okay, this isn’t real.”
But it was.
The glass felt cold under my fingers.
Solid.
And through it—
I saw my room.
Not a reflection.
Not quite.
Because in the window, I was sitting on my bed.
Wearing the same clothes.
Holding my phone.
Except—
I wasn’t standing.
I stumbled back.
My breath came sharp.
“What…?”
Inside the window, the version of me yawned, stretched, and lay down.
Like it was the end of a normal day.
Then the light turned off.
Darkness.
I stood there for a long time.
Heart pounding.
Waiting for something to move.
To change.
To explain itself.
Nothing did.
The next morning, the window was still there.
And so was the room inside it.
But now—
It showed yesterday.
I tested it.
At exactly 9:00 a.m., I sat at my desk and opened my notebook.
Then I looked at the window.
There I was.
Doing the same thing.
But slightly delayed.
No.
Not delayed.
Past.
I flipped a page.
In the window, the other me hadn’t done it yet.
A few seconds later—
It did.
My stomach twisted.
This wasn’t a mirror.
It was yesterday.
The entire day unfolded like that.
Every action I took, I could watch repeat in the window.
Every step.
Every word.
Every moment.
At first, it was fascinating.
Then—
It became something else.
I started noticing things.
Small things.
Like how tired I looked.
How often I paused for no reason.
How long I stared at nothing.
Things you don’t see when you’re inside your own life.
But watching myself from the outside—
It felt different.
Uncomfortable.
By nightfall, I couldn’t stop looking.
At 11:42 p.m.—the exact moment I had first seen the window—I stood in front of it again.
Watching.
In the window, yesterday-me stood up.
Walked toward the glass.
Toward me.
My chest tightened.
“No,” I whispered.
But yesterday-me didn’t stop.
He stepped closer.
Closer.
Until he was standing right in front of the window.
Right in front of me.
And then—
He looked up.
Directly into my eyes.
I stumbled back.
“That’s not possible…”
Yesterday-me tilted his head.
Like he was confused.
Like he could see something he didn’t understand.
Me.
We stared at each other.
Separated by glass.
And time.
Then—
He raised his hand.
Slowly.
And pressed it against the window.
My heart slammed against my ribs.
Without thinking—
I raised mine.
Placed it against the glass.
Our hands aligned perfectly.
Warm.
Cold.
Present.
Past.
And then—
Everything went dark.
I woke up on the floor.
Morning light filled the room.
The window was still there.
But something had changed.
Now—
It wasn’t showing yesterday.
It was showing today.
My breath caught.
Inside the window—
I was lying on the floor.
Exactly where I had just woken up.
But I wasn’t moving.
I stepped closer.
Slowly.
Carefully.
Inside the window—
The other me stayed still.
Eyes open.
Unblinking.
Watching.
A cold wave spread through my chest.
“No…”
I moved my hand.
The reflection didn’t follow.
It just watched.
Like it was waiting.
Or learning.
Or becoming something else entirely.
Then—
It smiled.
Not like I would.
Not like I ever had.
Wider.
Sharper.
Wrong.
I stumbled back, my breath shaking.
“What are you?” I whispered.
The thing in the window didn’t answer.
But it moved.
Not copying.
Not repeating.
Choosing.
It raised its hand again—
But this time—
It didn’t stop at the glass.
A crack spread across the surface.
Thin at first.
Then deeper.
I froze.
The sound was soft.
But final.
The glass began to fracture—
Like something on the other side was pushing through.
And for the first time—
I understood.
The window wasn’t showing yesterday.
It was replacing it.
Piece by piece.
Moment by moment.
Until—
There was no difference left between us.
The crack widened.
And the thing wearing my face—
Stepped forward.
