As the son of a diamond dealer and of a tribe that’s heavily into Jeleba --- a culture birthed in Kenema where people sing and dance live at weddings and ceremonies using a wide range of live instruments --- Prince was alway surrounded by music and creativity. Instruments like: trumpets, bata, pianos, kora, djembe, mbira, and kalimba made him grow to love instrumentation, while American artists like Michael Jackson made him appreciate artistry. The musical style, dances, lyrics can all be attributed to artists he saw on tv.

Village Boy Prince vividly remembers the day his dad handed him a DVD of Michael Jackson as the day he discovered his passion for music. Since the tender age of 6 years old, he would mimic the dance moves he saw from the Grammy award winning artist in school and at home. No matter how many people made fun of Prince he practiced on end until he found himself mastering his crafts and over a short amount of time, until everyone around him knew he was a true artist with raw talent .

After the war, Village Boy Prince was already a man at 10 years old by the country’s standards.

Since he arrived in the United States, Prince has honed in on his skills and become not only a singer and songwriter, but also a producer and engineer working with a multitude of artists over every genre including French Montana and Soulja Boy. As he embarks on a new journey as the executive producer of his first full length album entitled “Coldwater”, he’s perfecting everything he’s learned while specifically creating the vibe of his childhood. He thinks of his music idols like Michael Jackson, Future, Young Thug, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent, K-Man, 2-Face and how their projects were life changing for those who listened. He is passionate about doing the same.

He recently debuted his first single called “WorldCup” with African streaming service, BoomPlay that is currently charting in the top 5 in over 4 categories. Even though he’s living in America, it’s not only important for him to remain connected to the economy back in Sierra Leone, but also make sure he has a couple of singles buzzing in the country so that’s one of the first stops he tours.

March 20th, Village Boy Prince is releasing his next single called “Change My Life” .
