After yet another twelve months of what seems like a literal virtual reality, we were lucky enough to still be blessed with an abundance of incredible Music from around the World. Here is a countdown of our top Country and Americana records from 2021.

*Countdown is opinion based, not sales related. Full albums only, no EPs or deluxe albums included.*

10. Josh Kerr - 12 of 12

A highly accomplished and well-respected Songwriter in Nashville, Josh Kerr follows up his debut album How Do You Remember Me, with 2021 standout, 12 of 12. Releasing one song each month over the course of a year, this collection includes heart wrenching and thought provoking lyrics, plus melodies that will stop you in your tracks. Standouts include "I Go Back to You", "Arizona" and "I Didn't Love You."

9. Fancy Hagood - Southern Curiosity

Whilst this album may fall into the realms of pop/ Country-pop, its Southern roots and storytelling lyrics create a merge of genres that stands out above the rest. Hard to believe this is an official album debut from Fancy, who brings us a revolutionary record that has the power of reducing you to tears. Standouts include "Either", "Southern Curiosity", and "Love Again."

8. Kacey Musgraves - star-crossed

It would have been almost impossible to follow up her 2018 record Golden Hour, with anything better, and whilst star-crossed may not be as memorable, it is certainly just as iconic. Managing to surprise us even more with her utter honesty and impeccable talent, Kacey's latest record is a statement of re-awakening with a hint of sorrow and anguish. A stunning collection that will hold up its place next to Golden Hour easily. Standouts include "good wife", "breadwinner" and "hookup scene."

7. Lady A - What A Song Can Do

After arguably releasing their best work yet with 2019's Ocean, which solidified their place as one of the greatest Country bands, period, there was no pressure for Lady A to impress with their ninth studio album, What A Song Can Do. With a more uplifting theme then Ocean, the trio dive back to their earlier sounds, mirroring the energies of "Just a Kiss" and "American Honey", bringing a bright, energetic and road trip worthy collection of hits. Standouts include "Worship What I Hate", "Like A Lady" and "Chance of Rain."

6. Natalie Hemby - Pins and Needles

Natalie Hemby is one of the most influential, successful and reputable songwriters in all of Music. Her Grammy winning work has been sung by some of the biggest voices in the industry, yet she holds her own alongside them. Her second album, Pins and Needles, creates an effervescent and riveting journey from top to bottom, proving once again that she is the full package. Standouts include "Heroes", "Radio Silence" and "Pinwheel."

5. Mickey Guyton - Remember Her Name

After being in the industry for a decade, this official debut from Mickey Guyton, will have you questioning everything you thought you knew about Country Music. Introducing us to the ups and downs of fighting for a place in a historically male, and white-dominated industry, Mickey has created a wonderfully inspirational and educational record that displays her immense talent and voice. Standouts include "Black Like Me", "Remember Her Name" and "Higher."

4. Old Dominion - Time, Tequila and Therapy

As one of the most well-loved bands in Country Music, the men of Old Dominion do not disappoint with their fourth record, Time, Tequila and Therapy. Led by Matthew Ramsey's misty and elusive voice, backed up by faultless harmonies and capturing lyrics, the album lives well up to it's name. Standouts include "Something's the Same About You", "All I Know About Girls" and "Why Are You Still Here."

3. Carly Pearce - 29: Written in Stone

Carly Pearce has had a whirlwind few years, and none greater than this one. The reigning CMA Female Vocalist of the Year released her third studio album in September, that stunned industry heads and fans alike. The unapologetic, relatable, and purposeful record gives you an untainted look into the all too real trials and tribulations Pearce has been through over the past 18 months. Standouts include "29", "Diamondback" and "Never Wanted To Be That Girl", an outstanding duet with Ashley McBryde.

2. Anderson East - Maybe We Never Die

An album that may decipher between genres such as Americana, Rock, Country and Soul, Maybe We Never Die from Anderson East produces an exceptional variety of powerful, seductive and ruminative songs that will whisk you away into "Interstellar Outer Space." An unmissable album, combined with one of the most unique and classic voices in the business, this record is almost impossible to turn off. Standouts include "Madelyn", "If You Really Love Me" and "Hood of My Car".

1. Morgan Wallen - Dangerous: The Double Album

After the numerous controversies brought to us from Morgan Wallen, this may not be an obvious choice. However, there is no denying the greatness of this iconic double album. With an abrasive, rousing, and unquestionable voice, this sophomore record from the Country boy promises minimal, if any, tracks to skip. An enchanting look at all aspects of love, longing and heartbreak, this is a record that will go down in history. Standouts include "Only Thing That's Gone", "865" and "More Surprised Than Me."
