The Sound of Hip Hop

The introduction of the Drum Machine, changed the way music we make music. It has empowered some to be solo artist and instrumentalist . While at the same time has crippled the human drum machine and made it almost impossible to find work.

Modern music leaves very little room for experienced musicians. For instance, why go through all the trouble to learn to play classical piano, Pianos used in modern Music are toys pianos.

The Modern Pianists are playing with one hand on a toy piano! And you wonder why we can longer dance to music! LOL

These innovations have changed the way we make music. Some use a computer mouse and point and click.

How did we get here musically? How did we get to the point where dead people think they can make music for the living? Went from live drummers to drum machines? How is it that the whole world has fallen in love with instant coffee? How did we get from this.

The Sound of Hip Hop and its origin

Modern music has taken a left turn from the artist and musicians of the past. Early Music in America, just for this article I will begin with Muddy Waters, a blues musician from the share cropping era in America.

The Birth of Rap Music

Rap Music is born out of funk music, The first rap group on record is Sugar Hill Gang. I believe all of us that are in our fifties remember "Hotel motel holiday in If your girl start acting up can you take her friend?"

When we started rapping, we would use music that was created by professional musicians and bands. Sugar Hill used the music Chic good time. The art of beat making for rappers would be invented seven years later.

From Sugar Hill gang to NWA all the rappers used Samples. NWA Sampled, James Brown, and Many More. Here is an article written about NWA Samples. I will include that article because this article is about the origin of Beat making.

Ivan Law Started rapping in 1979 in High School, he is a bass player by trade. Ivan Law began writing songs in 1986 His first song with A custom Beat is Monkey See monkey do This is the first Rap song on record to employ a custom beat in 1986

Ivan Law was completely ahead of his times. There was no artist making beats and rapping to the in 1986.

In the early 80s we were blessed with a group called the fat boys, and they made their beats with their mouths they were the first Human beatboxers

Ivan sent Monkey see Monkey do for distribution, their response was if you get this song in any rotation, they would distribute it. Ivan completed his studio with a Roland TR 505 drum machine, Roland Synth sbx 90 sound processers and 4 track recorders. He took a common pop beat and laid his funk on top and wrote and produced (Robo Cop) thus was born the West Coast sound! Pop and Hip Hop copyright 1986. Thereafter, he wrote and produced Drop the Beat and coined the phrase 24/7 (Librarian verified) and, which he named the art of beat making. He submitted the Demo in 1986 to Macola Records, but was twenty years ahead of his time. They called around 1989 to 1991 to give Dr. Dre had the privilege to meet Ivan Law at Macola. The musically silent years 1987-1998. While In business. He is a legend in the community, and Ivan Law received called to Pastor. The second coming and current 1998-2013. His stores were very popular because of business, he purchased a new studio. He met Chingy, Eric sermon, Gorilla Black, Deja CEO of Subliminal Records, Sk RayJ’s producer. He wrote his commercial which aired on the beat, he was called by the ad executive and someone inquired who’s beat it was, it too became used by other producers. Ivan had his studio set up in his store, he worked on new sounds and rhythms all the time. This 1986 Demo Of Ivan Law is where he coined the phrase 24/7 ,drop the beat. So, not only is the true origin of beat making for rappers the sound of hip hop. The greatest phrase of this generation can be heard, as it was created for the first time in 1986 by Ivan Law.

The first Drum Machine Of Ivan Law. the first beats, that created the sound of Hip Hop, were created on the 1986 Roland Tr 505 drum machine.

Ivan Law is the Creator of the sound of hip hop. God has not stop trying to give Ivan The Credit he deserves.

Ivan Law Created The sound of Hip hop in 1986. Dr. Dre would introduce the sound in 1998.

Ivan would return to Music in 1999 when he dubs the Lakers Purple and gold .. After Ivan, Laws return to hip hop. All the music would abruptly stop. Dr. Dre has never released Detox. And to be fair, he said it was because he had so many good songs on it he just scrapped the whole album.

I say its because he knew he could not keep exploiting's my 1986 copyright on beat making. You decide for yourself what makes more sense.

Thus, the sound of hip hop was born, created By Ivan Law. And introduced to the world by Dr. Dre. I am not ungrateful enough not to say thank you to Dr. Dre, despite the years of blockage, I thank him for introducing my sound to the world.

Despite the fight for my life, and all that I have been through, I still say thank you. It took both of us to create the sound Of hip hop. Had I signed the record deal, it would have been the sound of Ivan Law. My absence is what made it the West coast sound, and then the sound of hip hop.

So, The origin of Beat making is that Ivan Law Created the art of Rapping on top of custom beats for Rappers and Dr. Dre would introduce the sound of rappers rapping on Custom beats to the world.
