“Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” was written by Bob Crewe and Bob Gaudio in 1967. The song was recorded as a single by American singer Frankie Valli. The song became one of his biggest hits, earning a Gold record, and on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It was Valli’s biggest solo hit. The song has become a staple of television and film soundtracks. The Valli version of the song was used by NASA as a wake-up song on the STS-126 Space Shuttle Mission to celebrate the wedding anniversary of astronaut Christopher Ferguson, one of the mission’s crew members.
“World in My Eyes” is a song by the English electronic music band Depeche Mode. It was released in 1990 and is the fourth and final single on their seventh album Violator. The song charted on the UK Singles chart and the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The music video for the song was directed by Anton Corbijn. There are two versions of the video with the original showing Dave Gahan and a girl watching it from a drive-in cinema and the second featuring the band in the car instead.
“Hungry Eyes” is a song performed by American musician Eric Carmen, a former member of the American band The Raspberries. The song was written by songwriters Franke Previte and John DeNicola. It was featured in the film “Dirty Dancing” in 1987. The song made it on the Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box charts. This song became Carmen’s biggest hit.
“Lyin’ Eyes” is a song written by Don Henley and Glenn Frey. It was recorded in 1975 by the American rock band Eagles. The song was the second single from the band’s album One of These Nights and charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Country charts. The Eagles received a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo, Group, or Chorus. Rolling Stone magazine ranked the song as The Eagles’ seventh-greatest song.
“Bette Davis Eyes” was written and composed by Donna Weiss and Jackie DeShannon in 1974. Originally it was recorded by DeShannon for her album New Arrangement, but was made popular by American singer Kim Carnes in 1981 when it rose to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song also made it on Billboard’s Top Tracks charts and the Dance charts. Carnes’ version won the Grammy Awards for Song of the Year and Record of the Year. It is at number 12 on Billboard’s list of the Top 100 songs in the first 50 years of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Actress Bette Davis was 73 when Carnes’ version became a hit. She wrote to Carnes, Weiss, and DeShannon thanking them for making her “a part of modern times.”
“These Eyes” is a song by the Canadian rock band The Guess Who. It was co-written by the band’s lead guitarist Randy Bachman and lead singer Burton Cummings. It is on their 1969 album Wheatfield Soul. It was their first single to reach the Top Ten on the Billboard Pop Singles chart. The song was certified Gold by the RIAA.
“The Bluest Eyes in Texas” was written by Tim DuBois, Dave Robbins, and Van Stephenson. It was recorded by the American country music group Restless Heart and released in 1988. It is the lead single on their album Big Dreams in a Small Town. The song reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 1988.
“Behind Blue Eyes” is a song by the English rock band The Who. It is the second single from the band’s fifth album, Who’s Next, from 1971. The song was originally written by Pete Townshend for his Lifehouse project. It is one of The Who’s best-known recordings. The song made it on the Billboard Hot 100 and Cashbox charts.
“Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain” was written by songwriter Fred Rose. It was originally performed by American country music singer, fiddler, and promoter Roy Acuff and has been covered by many other artists. The most notable version was recorded by American country singer Willie Nelson and is on his 1975 album Red Headed Stranger. The song became Nelson’s first number one hit as a singer and by year’s end, was the third-biggest song of 1975. Rolling Stone magazine has the song listed at number 302 on its list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time and at number 48 on its list of the 100 Greatest Country Songs of All Time.
“Brown Eyed Girl” is a song by Northern Irish singer and songwriter Van Morrison. It was written by Morrison and recorded in 1967. The song made it on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. It is one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
