The Ace, Next Up

Aidan Cade Everett Smoot (born September 16, 2005), known professionally as The Ace is an American rapper, writer, and songwriter from Elk City, Oklahoma. He has been influenced by many artists such as Eminem, Royce da 5’9”, XXXTentacion, Twista, and many more.

Known for his wordplay and flows, The Ace is a young talent exploring music and growing simultaneously. With over fifty-thousand streams on his newest song “Wreckage”, he exploits his faster flows and aggressive tone to make an expansive sound enjoyed by his fans. The versatile artist works on most instrumentals and explores many different genres, introducing rap to indie and rock. Growing up in a household where narcotics and abuse was a normal thing, Aidan learned to take care of himself when there was nobody to do so. He started falling in love with music at the age of nine years old when he heard “Fight Music” by D12. He’d go over to his grandmother's house with his mom after his parents would fight and he would listen to various genres of music. When he would feel alone he would listen to music to block out the arguing and physical aspects of the fighting in his household. After feeling a deeper connection with music than he did with anyone else, Aidan started rapping along with the songs he listened to and learning specific flows and cadences, first learning “Lose Yourself” by Eminem and “Alphabet Aerobics” by Blackalicious. Not ready to write yet, he rapped for a year before even picking a name, he couldn’t think of a name. He went through many names such as King Kobra, Cade Elmwood (Elmwood is the street he partly grew up on), and Dr.Dilligent. None of them fit and he thought back to his initials, Aidan Cade Everett Smoot. Aces sounded catchy, he went through many names before finally deciding on his now known name. Aidan started writing at the age of ten and didn’t come out with his first song until the age of twelve. Aidan would continue to grow as an artist when he wrote his first song to the royalty-free instrumentals on YouTube. He would find free beats on YouTube and write to them as a pre-teen. He never knew what he wanted to do when he’d grow up, he noticed most children wanted to be the normal police officer or firefighter but Aidan never could choose, until he found rap. He decided when he was thirteen that he would aspire to be a rapper. He started with the usual laughs when he’d try to step in and rap but it didn’t stop him from trying. In his small town in South-Western Oklahoma, there was no battle rap circuit but there was however a few stray rappers Aidan would rap with. As he elevated, any rap battle he’d enter he would win as there was almost no real competition. His unofficial battle rap record is 12-0.  As his life at home became worse, his music became better with him using his pent up emotion towards his music. Homelife for the young man was troubled, to say the least with constant arguing, physical assault, violence, and lack of love in the home. These acts of violence reflected on Aidan as his early lyrics are reminiscent of “Horrorcore” themes. His earliest song names were “Benevolence” and “Separation Of The Soul”, those of which you can still find on his Soundcloud today. He started to release music in 2018 and gained little attention, but was not discouraged. He had no equipment and nobody helping him but he still persevered. The hard work he put into music started paying off in early 2019 through now, as his new song has been streamed over fifty thousand times and is gaining attention. Through all the hardships he faced and went through, Aidan became The Ace, and altogether became much more content with his life and with his music as a whole.  The Ace wishes to keep enjoying music and change the game with hard-hitting songs, powerful messages, and overall moving music. He is ready to accept mainstream attention and with the buzz, he is expecting to see exponential growth soon.
