Distorted guitars, crazy rhythms, dense bass, and insane vocals. What it means to be a metal head.

For many years, the main songwriter in Iron Maiden was bass guitarist Steve Harris. Over the years, he has written many awesome tunes, despite not being trained in musical theory. He just naturally developed the ability to find good melodies and chord structures.

I once, around the Good Year 1989, played the opening riffs off of "Blackened" by Metallica, from an audio cassette (i.e. music recorded on magnetic tape unspooled between two plastic spinners, in a machine specifically designed to do so, called a "tape deck") of their fourth album ....And Justice for All. An aunt of mine, who was into the average arena-rock bands of the era, the Poisons, and Motley Crues, recoiled in horror. "That band SUCKS!" she exclaimed. "They'll never amount to anything!" That was her prediction. Of course, they went on to mega-stardom, success beyond their wildest dreams, becoming one of the top bestselling hard rock/heavy metal bands in recording industry history.

I will never forget the day I met Ozzy Osbourne. July 29, 2022. Friday. Los Angeles, California. SiriusXM Studios. I can’t remember how I heard about it. It was either through an email or on the SiriusXM app. I found out that SiriusXM was giving away tickets to attend the release special of Ozzy Osbourne’s new album “Patient Number 9” at the SiriusXM studios in Los Angeles, CA. I clicked the link as soon as I saw it. Then, just a couple of days later I received an email informing me that I had won two tickets to the show!

Investing further in my music fandom, I would listen to music daily. I'll play the CDs I burned through my laptop in the morning. Through the hallways at school, I'll play music at full volume. I'll listen to music after hours when sleep seems nonexistent.

Symphonic Metal Bands: Nerdiness vs Kickassery — A statistical analysis
I love metal, especially the power/symphonic kind. But man — there is some nerdy stuff out there. But does the nerdiness improve or hinder the overall kickassery of the music? Let us analyze:
lupu alexandraPublished 2 years ago in BeatThe Noisy Ensemble of HEALTH's "DISCO4."
Synth/noise-rock band HEALTH have a new album, and it's an echo chamber with a myriad of voices in the realms of the obscure and the accessible, for both those who prefer the rough and the clean. You may know Health’s sound, which weaves seamlessly between the industrial and the electronic (yet rarely strays from the chaotic) via their tracks in video games such as Max Payne 3, Grand Theft Auto, or Cyberpunk 2077 or perhaps their partaking in film/television such as Atomic Blonde or, strangely enough, 13 Reasons Why. But they should not be overlooked in terms of their listenability outside of those other mediums. They’ve released four albums prior to the two-part album that this article is about, ranging from the noise rock to EBM to pure synthpop with no distortion in sight.

We’re not your tokens. That’s what I always say. Only rock n roll can move my soul. Yes I like Bone Thugs and Outkast every now and then and I love 80s and 90s R&B. But the thing that’s get my blood flowing and the tears streaming down my face is rock n roll. From classic rock to heavy metal, in the words of Joan Jett, put another dime in the jukebox baby.

With all the extra stress of the age the chance to escape in to a calm place is essential. A chance to block out the noise with your own noise, decide what's disturbing you. The difference for me is the louder and heavier it is the better it calms me.
